Well I got all of the wires bagged up today. Took an entire 13 gallon trash bag filled to the brim! I'll have to get it weighed soon to gauge my progress....
Oh, I ordered some fun parts today as well. I'll post pics as they roll in. Lots more to come

Been working hard today on the car. Got the toggle switches mounted in the dash to control the driver/pass side window and the fuel pump switch.
Then I pulled the pass. side airbag cover and mounted my gauges there. It turned out really nice! I'll try and get some pics up soon

And you're not all that far from Miller Motorsports Park either. Less than 3.5 hours if you drive like I do.

Lemme know when you're heading this direction.
Now that I live during the day, I plan to head out there at least a few times during the summer. Not to race mind you, but to watch.

Anyone else have any good affordable ideas on how to plug the sunroof???
Or better yet... any pictures of panels that have been riveted on?? Doesn't matter if it's a Focus or not. Just looking for as many pictures as I can find to get ideas. Thanks

plug it with some Lexan!
get a sheet of Lexan machined with a deep lip on it you can mount a seal around the raised piece that pokes through the opening(flush with the roof) and then bolt it in place with some Carriage bolts http://www.aaronscapscrews.com/CarriageBolts.htm and washers and nylock nuts on the inside. still gives you a nice view without major work to the roof!

I just checked the SCCA rulebook and it can't be lexan
It has to be of similar material as the roof, so steel/aluminum/stainless steel

How about this for a battery relocation kit??? It's out of an E30 BMW I believe since they come stock with a rear mounted battery. A buddy of mine is doing a battery relocation as well and he found these for $50. Everything is included...even the distribution block. What do you all think?? ![]() [/QUOTE]

Well I mounted the gauges on the pass. airbag cover.
Not sure if I'll keep them there...haven't decided yet. I'm so anal about these things ![]() I was thinking about maybe mounting them where the air vents use to be on a plate of aluminum with angle rings. Similar to these but only aluminum plate instead of the plastic he used... ![]() ![]() What do you all think??

It needs to warm up here so I'm not just sitting on the computer brainstorming about the car
![]() Here is the latest idea I saw. Now before you flame me for adding weight back in, just hear me out. I was thinking about welding a THIN layer of sheet metal on the driver and pass. side front floor boards.... just to clean things up a little and smooth it out. Should only add a few pounds. Input?!?!?!?!?!?!

If you don't need it, don't do it. That would be my premise for what goes into a racecar.

There are several holes I need to plug in the floor where the rubber slugs use to be, so this was just kind of a lazy way to do it
![]() Anyone seen a Focus or similar car with something like this???

Next small project:
What to do with the pass. airbag cover area???? The cover is all dicked up on the edges and I drilled some holes in it to mount the gauges. After all was said and done, I hated the gauges over there. Not sure why, I just couldn't stand it ![]() So now I have the hole where the cover use to be left WIDE open. The factory airbag cover has some weight to it, so I'm looking for other options. At first I was thinking the euro pocket panel option, but that would be pretty pointless on this car. My ideas as of now are: A- Leave it the way it is without a cover ( pretty ugly ) B- Make a thin aluminum panel to fit over where the factory cover use to be C- Your ideas What do you think??
