A local friend of mine is bringing out a decent G35 set up this year. Built motor and twin 30R's. Should see 800whp, I'd guess. You guys fight the same problem that the cobra guys do, though.... overweight cars.

There is a guy on My350z.com (the 350z forum that I'm on) did an LS2 swap in his 350z.

The Z is a little on the heavy side...but not as heavy as a mustang. I don't know what it is about the Z that makes it feel so fast, but it just is. I have driven cars with way more horsepower than my Z, but the Z is just a different type of power I guess. I guess it's just the way it's geared.

The Z weighs 3187 wet and the new mustang weighs 3480. btw and the RX7 (FC) weighs between 2625 lb - 3071 lb depending on engine

I'm really not trying to start an argument here, That 9.20 was a very old run and it was on DOT 10 inch drag radials.

Like I said, This fall he got into the 8.75 range on slicks and was dynoing in the 1000 hp range.

His has got a full interior, stereo, A/C and a cage. He could lighten it if he wanted to but it's also a very well mannered street car.

We've also got a local guy with an old fox body car with a twin turbo 427 in it, He put down almost 1200 whp last year but that was just to see what it'd do on a dyno because he can't control the car even under lower boost.

No question weight is the enemy but an 8 second daily driveable Cobra is pretty damn impressive if you ask me.

BTW-post up the videos, I always love to see stuff like that.

I've seen the swapped 350z. Pretty cool, but that is one set up that I can honestly say I wouldn't do. The VQ has enough potential as is, by the time you were done with a swap you could've gone just as fast with the VQ. Aside from that, with the money spent you'd have been much better off in a vette.

My videos are mostly FJ inappropriate for one reason or another.

The perfect example of the RX7 counterpart to the car that you're talking about is Brian Hinson's turbo ls1 swap car. It is a 7.90@175+ car on pump gas, full weight, and dot tires.... REAL street car. Hell, my car is a bolt on car with a stock drivetrain and has mid 140 mph trap capability...

That guy did have his car fully built and TT'd, but he wanted to do something different, so he yanked the motor, and dropped in an LS2

This guy ran a 9.78 on only his 3rd try ever on this engine in a miata:
http://globalnetspace.com/miata.html

And this is all with a 2.0 stroker engine

Shawn and Ashley, thank you....my car is still just too "stock" for this catagory.

I think mine is more stock than yours is...

Come on... 618whp in a stock body miata, with good tires, and a good driver should still sub 10 seconds. The car only weighs a hair over 2000 lbs.

This guys reaction time was definatley not the best

Either way 600+ HP out of 1996cc engine... not bad

I just wanted the miata to be able to play with you big HP straight line guys

okay, okay, let's stop talking about super modded cars that share the same body (for the most part) to the cars in the competition. Dont make me break out the BTCC 1988 videos! lol

Fact is - this is a very tough (n)FOTM.

look at the bright side - all the cars involved are right wheel drive (RWD) !!

of all the vehicles in the list, which one would you like to drive?

that starts in on the question - when? everyday? then dont pick my car, that's for sure. it's not comfortable at all with the suspension setup (and seat, and lack of interior).
which one is quickest? uhm, duh. hocky's. my little saying for him "when too much is just right."

which one is the best canyon carver? that's debatable, but i'd go with bela's miata.

i voted for the five and dime. and i cant even say that without thinking of the clutch song "the yeti"

lol. oh well, time to go play with my daughter.

Well, it is surprising to say the least. Thank you all for your votes. I do reckon, however, that in this month, every vehicle in the running deserved a win.

Perhaps we should have another, Ataru, in the future? There are some REALLY sick non-focuses here.

If i can get joe to help me make a quick vid, i'll try to get my car shooting flames for you guys.

Yes, we WILL have another NFOTM in the future......next time a little narrowed down into a category to give more people a shot. 4X4s, RWD, domestic, whatever....

Oh yeah I almost forgot............................................ ..........I told you so.

Maybe an Any-Member-RaceCOTM (AMRCOTM) would be nice. All those Spec Focus, Spec Focus Rally, Mustangs, ITE (or whatever) BMWs, and, err, dirt-track, late model cars would be fun to see lined up in a big fat nomination thread.

Anyway, *BIG* props to Ray and the XR4Ti. Very fitting that the first NFOTM here is a European-designed Ford product.
