Sounds like some big plans! I ordered a set of those vent surrounds from the UK and am looking forward to having them installed.

It turns out, though I'm not certain about this, that Steve can only get the inner vents with the white symbols on them; the outer vents are all black. Did the older US Focii with midnight black vent surrounds have the white symbols on all four?

Don't know how I missed your question, but I'm very pleased with them so far!

So far they have excellent dry traction, and are definitely quieter than the stock continentals, but only time will tell how good the tread life really is, and these are still basically brand new (maybe 500-600 miles on them.)

cheers!

I'm not sure about the white symbols, I know that none of my stock grey vents had painted symbols.

anybody know?

Also, what makes you think the 5-door SVTs didn't have door panel inserts?

CaysE, I know that the regular 5-door SVT's had color-matched door inserts, but I'm pretty sure they never made the ZX5 SVT-EAP with matched panels, like there:

At least I've never seen an EAP zx5 that had the same black-leather door inserts that the zx3's did, and really it doesn't surprise me since they only made the ZX5 svt with euro option available in late 2004, and then they only made 408 total ZX5 SVT's with the EAP compared to 1037 ZX3 SVT-EAPs in 2003, and then an additional 595 ZX3 SVT-EAPs in 2004 (i found the breakdown from a list in the SVT forum over at focusfanatics, its posted below.)

2003 SVT 3-door EAP models:

Pitch Black: 222
Infra Red: 101
CD Silver: 160
Screaming Yellow: 253
Competion Orange: 301

2004 SVT 3-door EAP models:

Pitch Black: 128
Infra Red: 62
Sonic Blue: 74
CD Silver: 87
Screaming Yellow: 123
Competion Orange: 121

2004 SVT 5-door EAP models:

Pitch Black: 110
Infra Red: 29
Sonic Blue: 48
CD Silver: 104
Screaming Yellow: 66
Competion Orange: 51

If you can find a picture, I would absolutely LOVE to be wrong about this one, it would make my life a lot easier, lol.

cheers!

Well I'll be damned! This is from a black EAP ZX5... dark gray door inserts:

Well, I've got the leather for my door inserts sourced from redlinegoods, so the doors will match the shifter and e-brake boots, which have really turned out quite well after a couple good feedings.

But... the local door panels were trash, so it looks like I'm going to have to buy online and have them shipped.

I've also got a lead on the chrome HID light inserts for painting, and I've got a couple calls out about the SVT front bumper, so it may all come together a bit faster than I thought.

Plus the standard black gauge face should be here in the next couple of days, and hopefully the rear strut bar will be here by the end of the week!

Hey CaysE, how hard was the european hood lock to install, and does it look like its possible to swap a US tumbler into it? I've got an extra tumbler for my key from an old door lock unit and was thinking about doing the hood lock, but don't really want to carry a separate key.

Anyway, hopefully I'll get a chance to take some updated pictures once I get the next few parts installed.

cheers everyone!

The lock cylinder for the hood is a different design than the doors or ignition, so you'll need the Euro one... it's entirely possible to convert all the lock cylinders to Euro ones so you only need one key... you just have to figure out how to handle PATS.

Removing the US latch is fairly easy, but you will need an aluminum jack or similar, as you will have to unbolt the lower radiator support and lower the radiator down to give the latch room to come out. The Euro latch is a piece of cake to put in since it's smaller, but you may find that the hood won't completely close. You'll have to cut off the two locating tabs on the front face of the latch (you'll see what I mean when you install it) to move the latch higher.

I'll be perfectly honest; I think I would rather have color-matched door panel inserts than inserts that are darker than the panels. That was the only thing I never liked about the EAP package; I think that pic of the ZX5 EAP interior looks great.

Hey CaysE,

I think I'm going to hold off on the hood lock for the time being, until I can afford to swap all my tumblers over to Euro keys.

I normally agree with you about the door panels, but I think that since I've already got a bit of a black/grey two-tone theme going that it will look really nice once its done, especially since I'm probably going to eventually purchase another st170 center console, this time in light grey though.

cheers!

Another update (I added this to the first post too)...

Well, I think the forced induction bug is gnawing at me more than ever, so tentatively, I'm hoping to save for either the Focussport or F2 stage-2 (intercooled) turbo kit, to have it on by the end of the year. I don't have the time or money to build the engine first, so its going to be a stock stage-2 kit.

Either shop want to sponsor my car and use it for shows?

cheers everyone,

I was trying to remove the inserts from the doors to cover them properly (as opposed to just tucking the fabric like people have done) and the amount of glue used on the inserts, which are just MDF, is obscene, and in the process, the insert piece was trashed, and the vinyl ripped pretty badly too.

Let me be the first to suggest that you don't remove the inserts, but just go the "tuck" route using a credit card / butter knife / plastic scraper / etc.

Thanks for the compliment.
