Congratulations. Way to resurrect this old beast and turn it into something awesome. I always liked these cars too.

Well done.

I'm also a Merkur fan - and what a great example of the breed. Shows you what hard work & passion can produce. Congrats!

I'll get some pics in the build thread, but ya'll might get a kick out of this...

So a couple weeks ago i install the lightweight starter and a lightweight battery. make aluminum battery brace and tie down. weight savings about 24lbs.

but now.. the car doesn't always start. not low voltage, just doesnt... start. finally get pissed (this morning) - remove the z-lok setup, which is a hood lock shut and starter kill. that worked for 2 or 3 starts - did it again. fine.

go in the house, grab some wiring, a relay, some connectors, my soldering iron, and a momentary switch. car now has a push button starter.

And that took the Focus community three years, $100 and ten "how-to" threads to figure out lol

I've loved Merkurs ever since returning from the UK where we shared the roads with Sierras (some of which were moonstone blue Cossies, holy crap those are cool!) not to mention this is a direct bloodline of our Foci anyway. This was a very appropriate winner.....and kudos to the restorer!
