Default WINNER of May FOTM: They Don't LOOK Like Knock-Offs!

The Competitors

The Winner:

Mrs. Blue and Mr. Blue

Quote:
So the story of Animal ( yes, Jen named the car Animal) is five years in the making. Lorin and I got this crazy idea to campaign an H Stock Focus. The requirements were that the car had to be a base model (not even air conditioning), a 5 speed and a 2.3L Duratec. Jen and I had decided that we were just not having much fun in our 01 Cobra so we decided to trade it in for a Focus. That's when the love affair began.

In the first 3 months of ownership the car had Konis, an H-stock modified FocusSport exhaust, a lap harness, and a leather wrapped steering wheel. We had fun for a couple of autocross seasons and decided we needed more parts. Cosworth here we come!

The CAI was the first purchase and the beginning of the DuraMonster. As time went by the desire for more horsepower got stronger. After the first ride in Lorin's parents FSP car Jen and I were sold on the rest of the Cosworth goodies. Thanks to many Jetters selling off parts we managed to pick up an intake manifold and throttle body for our car. As well as getting an exhaust and Tein Coliovers and EDFC off of a wrecked Focus (RIP Lowlifestyle SVT!!) We also decided to replace our soft, not quite right factory clutch with the newly available Exedy stage one clutch and flywheel, Quaife and 4.06 gears. With all these new parts it was off to Randy to have him tune our car. That was the longest, loudest ride to FS but way worth it. But we needed it to be faster and louder. The header is the last engine piece we added. We wanted louder and faster and that's what we got. With a slight tweak of the tune by Randy for the header we ended up where we are today. The car is loud and definitely does not compromise for comfort in most conceivable ways but it is a blast and a definite part of the family.

The appearance of the car has changed drastically over the 5 years. At this point it is pretty close to completion.

Planned Future Additions:

SVT Brake Kit
F2 RS Replica painted fiberglass spoiler
Roll cage
Glossy window trim
A new front bumper

Rob campaigning our H Stock Focus

Our nearly bone stock Focus (It had Konis and an FS exhaust)

Custom vinyl by bigdaddyzx3

At Jetfest w/Jen's hetero lifemate Queen Jade

On our way to Oregon for the Larrison Hill Climb

Jen auto-crossing in Atwater

grats on the WIN!!!!

sweet! i seen youre thinking bout a new front bumper what class are you running in right now?

i know at least in STS you can put on whatever bumper you want, so id say some euro-ness would be sweet! and itll help you get a little more room out front for dodging cones!

I still love the classic look of those wheels. For a while I really wanted to pick up the other set that was out there. Your whole car is so clean and obviously put to good use. Congrats!!!

Being an art one can never finish learning. It may be possible to reach maximum speed around a given corner in a given car, but there are thousands of corners and many cars, as well as varying surfaces and conditions. This impossibility of reaching perfection gives one much scope for improvement. I always feel that motor racing is like chasing the rainbow's end, for the more one learns or the nearer one gets to the end, the further it draws away. It is this never disappearing goal which one strives for that makes it the most fascinating of all sports.

Ask and you shall receive. This is from inside Omni's car but you can very clearly hear our car over his as he chases me.

Pardon the bad lines. I was a little rusty.

It hasn't been dyno'd since the header install.

Judging by some like cars out there it should be making between 175 and 180 whp.

Awww. Toby, if anyone definitely had a worthy car this time around it was you. Your car definitely puts down some VERY impressive numbers. It has to be a blast. On top of that it looks like yours definitely gets put to use as well. It was an honor to compete with you.
