Default Gross, I Stepped In Something Sticky! (Lots o' Pics)

I got some new wheels and tires put on the XR finally. Not much to say really. She's pretty stock, some suspension work and other little odds and ends. 67k on the clock.
Wheels are BSA 333's, 17x7 +40mm and tires are Dunlop Direzza Z1 Star Specs in 215/45/17. No more one tire fires with these...I'm unable to spin them

Plans for the car include finishing up the rear suspension, suspension/steering bushings, intercooler, 3" turbo elbow, DP, exhaust, Cossie grill (unsure about headlights, mine are in great shape for the age). I have Collins BOV, LA3 and big VAM sitting here that needs to go in when the FMIC goes in as well.

Looks great! Those are fun cars.

We used to have people abandon them at the dealership due to high repair costs, used to be able to pick them up for a song.

I wish I would have snagged one now.

I wish! They are BSA 333's. Unfortunately, the XR is blessed with the same wonderful 4x108 bolt-pattern as the Focus, but needs more offset than the Focus(35-40ish) so it makes finding wheels a bit harder.

So you are the one that bought GoatRoper's old wheels.

I love the look of those wheels on the XR, but I am still not a fan of bronze wheels on a silver/grey car.

And shame on frush for thinking those were TE37 Cups since he used to own some Volks himself.

I actually bought them from a guy from the Merkur Club forum. I saw GoatRoper's for sale after I bought these.

Are these kinda common for Merkurs? When GR got them they were such an odd offset for the Focus and I had never seen them before, and now you have a set the exact same as he did.

I've never seen them on another XR before. I just checked his thread and it seems he was running a 35mm offset. Mine are 40mm.

http://forums.focaljet.com/handling/...45-rubber.html

That gives me hope that I can run these on the Focus for AutoX

Well, you need to get GR's now! The 35mm offset would be even better for the XR......and the grey color of them would go perfect with the car too!

I forgot his were grey and not bronze.

It's almost stock motor wise which I why I chose not to. Filthy too. I just have a cone filter and a MBC (set at the stock 15psi currently). I can try to grab some later today. Just be warned, nothing too impressive

There he goes again gettin all crooked with his pics. Dude you need a lighter camera!

Looks good Joe. Nice choice on the wheels. Time to clean up the nose a bit. Poor dry skin!

He doesnt tell you that the background is the University of Connecticut. Good old HorseBarn Hill. You should have driven to the top, unless they blocked off that road, or you didnt want to get it dirty.

Thanks Adam.

I should have driven up there! I have some pictures of the Focus on that road I think, but it was at night.
