Cool My new scoot

So I finally bought a bike.

Picked up this '06 SV650 from a lady who bought it new a little over a year ago after taking the MSF beginner course so she could ride with her husband and then subsequently realized that she didn't have the nerves to ride in traffic.

She never left the subdivision on it. The majority of the miles that are on it were put on when her husband let his friend who was in from out of town ride it during a long group ride.

It had been lowered almost 2" and the rear is still dropped in these pictures. I just haven't had a second set of hands available yet to help me with the link adjustment.

I'll post some more pictures once I get it raised back up.

Looks really nice. Why are you planning on raising the rear back up? It doesn't seem like it's overly lowered as it sits.

Thanks.

As for your question, I'm already too heavy for this bike as it sits and will need at the very least more spring and heavier oil up front and an upgraded rear shock, and don't want to give up any travel in the suspension. I plan to set the suspension up on this bike properly and would like to start from ground zero, if that makes sense.

I also have to mount a license plate to the undertail and could use a bit more clearance.

Looks like they already installed a hotbodies undertail.

Very clean overall, how much if you don't mind me asking?

Yeah, I love the look of the undertail, but I haven't yet decided exactly how I'm going to mount my license plate....Also, the turn signals are not very bright at all (especially during the daytime), and I'm thinking I might need to install some secondary rear turn signals of some sort to be really safe.

I paid $4650 for it. Pretty good deal, if you ask me.

Indeed.

These Suzuki V-twins have a good rep out here.

Solid, sir!

I almost bought an '05 S a couple weeks ago, but I've always really wanted a naked so I'm glad I waited. Plus, this one is in pretty much perfect shape and has 1/3 the number of miles as that S had, and I only paid a few hundred more than the guy was asking for the S. I'm sure I would have been happy with the S as well, but I'm thrilled to have found this one when I did.

Update:

Got my tag and mounted it on Monday along with the LED license plate bolts I picked up from CycleGear (I managed to yank the wires out of one of the bolts so only the one nearest the registration sticker lights up - should be plenty bright enough with the one light at least until I can get around to getting a new one), and got the rear raised back up last Thursday.

I received and installed my new mirrors today.

Here are some pictures:

nice bike. i had a 2003 S model for a while. very good bike with all the power i could ever need, but it just got too uncomfortable on long rides.

keep an eye out for 'false neutrals' though. my buddy has a 05 naked model that's no longer on the road because something in the tranny went 'poof'. he hasn't had time to tear it apart yet, but the false neutrals he kept finding in the higher gears should have likely been an indication to him that something was wrong.

funny how the rear was just lowered and not the front as well because that is just going to hurt the handling all around...would make the bike unstable in corners if riding at a good pace. Nice bike by the way..a few of my friend own them and one does track days with his.

Haven't experienced one yet, but that's not saying much since I've only put about 250 miles on it...

Thanks for the head's-up, though

The front was lowered as well, but I had already raised it back up when I took the pictures. It was easier to do by myself with limited tools than the rear and only took 5 minutes or so.

They aren't CRGs, they're ebay knockoffs. They were like $35 shipped, and are exactly like the Motrax ones that CycleGear sells for like $60. I'm pretty happy for what I paid, and the visibility behind me is waaaaay better. Mind you it's distorted since they're convex, but not hard to adjust for (plus I mainly use my mirrors to see whether or not there's someone there, not really for judging gap distances).

Nintendo, where in FL are you from? Feel free to PM me if you want.

Nice job with the tag btw, now you need to hit craigslist for a can.

I'm in JAX, near the beaches. I moved here about 3 months ago.

A can is definitely high on the list. I haven't decided on which one yet, though I'm leaning toward an M4 standard mount or a Scorpion Street Extreme. Probably won't happen for another month or so, but I'll be sure to post pics when it does.
