cool

I've seen 2 other 3dr. SVTs in town here - a yellow one and a blue one
I've heard there is a FSW turbo'd SVT here as well but I don't know who it is

So I did so more work on the SVT yesterday.
I finished pulling out the headliner and all the pillar trim.

Then I started cleaning the rest of the interior. I vacuumed and washed all the panels and seats with soapy water (it got black quick so I was changing it out often).
When I finished that, I took a ride over to the junk yard. They had three Foci in their yard - 2 3dr. and a 5dr.
I offered them $70 for all the interior trim I could carry, including a headliner. I got some good parts but unfortunately none of them had a sunroof. I got a headliner anyway but when I got back out to my car it didn't fit, even if I were to cut a hole for the sunroof the shape just didn't work - oh well, I tried
So I took my bounty home and scrubbed all the pieces well.
I got all this plus a couple more that I didn't need or that I already installed when this pic was taken.

I'll finish installing these today but I still need a headliner. I'm sure I'll find one next time I go down to Salt Lake.
They didn't have any power doors at the junk yard either. I'm not sure how hard it would be to swap all the power stuff over to a manual door. Has anyone done this?

are the current doors salvageable? Re do the bondo and re-paint. New motors and pannels from Steve at Tousley. You can even go with a custom both windows up and down express. I'll bet you Steve carries new door hinges. a little metal fab and presto....good as new....i know easier said than done, but just a thought.

I wouldn't install those until you get a headliner, no use in damaging the clips more times than you need to.

And yes, Sunroof hl's sit significantly lower than the non-sr car.

Good show sir.

But...$70 for all that is A LOT... $20 would have been reasonable(i've throw much of that away MULTIPLE times).

good point
I already installed the a-pillar trim but I'll hold off on the other stuff.

At the time I thought I was getting the headliner as well, so the $70 sounded reasonable, but the guy said since I didn't take the headliner, I could come back and get some more stuff if I needed.

do you want full power doors or just the interior door panels? swapping the needed pieces on a door panel is easy.......as for the door itself.....I'm not sure

The lambo door kit has pretty much ruined those doors. I'm looking at swapping my ZX3 (manual doors) onto the SVT (power doors). I already have some replacement SVT interior door panels on their way from ebay. I just need the actual door, hinge, locks, windows, regulators, switches, and whatever else is included in the door to be switched over to the SVT.
My biggest concern right now is getting the power window regulator out of the SVT doors and installed, correctly, in the ZX3 doors.

Found a link to this old SVT winning ROTM on Focus Fanatics (Feb 2006)... since you wanted as much info as you could about past owner, car status etc.

http://www.focusfanatics.com/forum/s...t=22039&page=2

Enjoy! (though you most likely already found these old threads)

Today's update.
So yesterday I got curious to see what the differences in the window mechanisms and attachment points. Next thing I knew I had the door panels off both cars and was pulling the wiring harness out.
Then I pulled the fender of the SVT to see how the lambo door system worked.

I then went over and unbolted the ZX3 door.

I unbolted the SVT door from the system and then the lambo hinge from the car.

and some more mess for me to get to later

I decided to just run the car with the manual doors from the ZX3 for now. I bolted the driver's door on with the normal hinges from the ZX3. I also swapped the fenders on the driver's side.
Then I moved over to the passenger's side. I was running out of daylight and the rain wasn't helping so I decided to just swap the doors, leaving the lambo system on until I get to it later.

Today I got back on it.

I finished the door panels.
It's not to often you see an SVT with manual doors

I removed the fenders from both cars. Then I removed the lambo hinge from the SVT and installed the normal hinge from the ZX3. I put the ZX3 fender on the SVT and now I have manual, but normally functioning doors on the SVT

Looks like it is making some sort of Kung-Fu fighting stance.

Swap the moldings, pillars door handles and mirrors and you are golden!

I don't have the SVT door handles
How is it to take off the moldings? I've taken them off cars before and it ruins the paint and sometimes the molding itself. They are glued on right?
I'm assuming there was supposed to be a comma in your comment between pillars and door handles. So how do you get the exterior pillar trim off?
The mirrors will be swapped as soon as I receive my new interior door panels. I will also look at swapping over the power window regulators and power door locks.

While this isn't critical, you may want to swap the sticker on the inside of the door if you plan to sell the car.
