oh and a little update...
so as far as the stereo goes, i'm just going to dynamat everything and the build a 18x18x9.5" OD box out of 3/4" MDF. then make a halo out of 1/2" MDF that covers the floor so i can mount my amps and cap to it that will also fit up tight to the box. the amps and cap will get mounted like pictured in a previous pics and on the passenger side i might make a little storage box for extra lights, tools, etc. then i'm going to raise the floor with another piece of 3/4" MDF cut in half for easier install and removal and brace everything so i can still used 100% of the trunk floor space and only loose about 4-5" vertically all the while never causing damage to the stereo get under it. on the passenger side i figure cutting out a section where that box was and putting a couple of hinges on it so it's sort of a smugglers style compartment. I don't have the skills for fiberglass nor the time so the void under the halo and beside the box i'll just stuff in some poly fill or insulation to minimize resonance. i'm not building a SQ or DB setup, just something nice and usable without having some big huge box in the trunk that eats up all the space. one thing i have always hated about systems is how much space they kill. no stupid neon lights or glow tubing either! ![]() everything about this car is going simple and minimalist i guess. i don't want to attract attention for the wrong reasons! Today i spent about 30-40mins before my side and back started to hurt BUT managed to get the battery mount sorted out and a little shoty wiring left over from Matt cleaned up before i sealed up the ECU and mounted it back under the battery tray. I also installed a new Deka 15lbs battery i got from Shawn at MMP and hooked up the fuse holder and power wiring for the stereo! Before: after: slowly coming along... the garage is a mess right now. ![]() Comment and suggestions about the stereo setup welcome... i'm pretty green when it comes to anything more than the basics of stereo work!

Picked up some Gun-Wash from work to wipe down the interior to get it ready for the sound deadening. after cleaning the inside of the car, i had a couple of Doctor appointments and then a quick trip out to a fabric store for a couple of Bolts of fabric, more on that later. after all that i went down to my US shipping location tonight and picked up 240sq/ft of Edead sound deadening and after a couple of hours of cutting and rolling and a few beers, this is where i'm at...
hope to have most of the interior done by tomorrow! as for the fabric bolts, i got 3 yards of Soho Black Suede and 3 yards of a nice looking black and grey tartan plaid to redo the headliner, and a,b&c pillars and the door insets... but the problem i'm having is how to do it... Should i do the headliner and door inserts in the Plaid and the pillars in Suede or should i do everything in suede or everything in the plaid....the pillars are the cream colored plastic and i think it would look kinda goofy and out of place in a basically completely black interior with cream pillars. the headliner is currently the greyish off white.

black suede every where, restitch the seats with the plaid in the middle.
maybe cover the radio/hvac and door inserts with the plaid as well.

Wow, looks like you've been busy. Not a ton done, but time consuming projects. You'll have to let us know how effective the edead is. I've contemplated doing it for a while, but wasn't sure if it was really worth the time and money. Not that it's all that costly just mainly a lot of time to remove the interior and lay it all down.
I love the 2 fabric combos you choose to use! Funny thing is I have a VERY similar plaid that I was going to use for my a-pillars. If I was you I would go VW style and cover the headliner and a-pillars in the plaid.....maybe even the door inserts, but don't go overboard. Then use the black suede everywhere else. Keep us posted on the progress man!

i was thinking the plaid on the headliner and door inserts with suede on the pillars would be the nicest contrast. although suede headliners are sooooo nice! as far as re trimming the seats go, the long term plan is to swap out the seats with EAP Recaro interior so wasting money on doing anything more to the stock seats seems pointless. Unless of course i can get the guys at Stätus to give me another set of seats then i might get the inserts for those seats done in plaid and the rear seats re trimmed to match, who knows... still want more input on which way to go with what i currently have.

oh and i don't expect the edead to make that much of a difference, i just got the e45 stuff so it's not that thick and i didn't get any of the V4 foam either although i probably should have... there are lots of little rattles in this car and i'm trying to start to eliminate them but after taking the interior out, i think a lot of them came from broken trim tab from who originally tore the car apart back in the day for Sema! a lot of the trim issues can be fixed with a little glue and some V4 foam or similar down the road!

got the back half of the car done including the roof! will get the front half done tomorrow and will run all the wiring and hopefully put the carpeting back in. before my buddy comes over and we do the headliner and as much else as we can get done!
i'm hoping i can have most of the interior back in on Friday and then start on the sub box and everything else on the weekend! more pics tomorrow, i have decided on what i'll do with the fabrics so i should have good finished shots by Monday as i wont be sharing anything after all the edead is in!

Man, I'm so glad to see that the plaid headliner thing is finally starting to gain some ground
I'd vote for doing the headliner in plaid and doing everything else in the black suede. When I did mine, I did just the headliner in plaid and resprayed literally every other part of my interior trim flat black to give it a nice contrast so that the plaid would really stand out, which it did ![]() -Brian

spare tire?
i have BCAA(AAA to you yanks down south) and never have to worry about needing a tow or anything! who needs a Spare! ![]() The battery puts out about 550ccam which is more than enough, to run the car and we've tested it to be just as strong as a stock focus battery! it doesn't have the reserve of a stock sized battery but that's not an issue for me! and it was about $85usd! edead is all in, with the roof and being very liberal with the application i think we used about 180-200sq/ft!? ![]() i'll post some pics later but i'm off to start putting the interior back in at least partially!

SEXY!!!
I haven't seen these posts yet. I love the plaid idea. I almost don't want you to do it because some people up here will call me a copy cat if I continue with my plans that I was thinking of... although mine will be the Clan Robertson Tartan if I do it.
