Default Guys it looks like we have bad fuel pumps!

Of course not all of us. If you have symptoms like bogging when trying to accelerate, going up hill or going up on the tach, it looks like it’s going to be your fuel pump. Mine would hesitate each time I would try to pass another vehicle or if the rpms would go over 4000. When it’s hotter during the day it will hesitate even more. If those are your symptoms take in to your dealer so they can replace your pump.

ha, we should start a club... i'm going to get mine looked at when it starts happening more, right now it only happens on highway entrance ramps, and randomly, like twice a week or so, but its NOT cool when you're trying to speed up to merge

Where were you guys when I had mine replaced back in March? The service dept. told me to keep the tank 1/2 full all the time. This is supposed to keep the pump cool so it will last longer. It took 40,000 miles for the problem to show so I had to pay 1/2 the cost of fixing it. I essentially paid for the pump (about $250.00) and they installed it. It does not fix the "normal" surging at 1800-2200 RPM but it does fix stumbling on curves, and stalling in warm weather.

If you're having trouble, get it fixed ASAP. When the temp. gets above 80 it will eventually get to the point where it will stall and will not start until it cools down, no matter how much gas is in the tank.

How many miles do you have on your cars with the stumbling problem?

My new S2 was built on June 12, will it have the problem? Or the bad cat problem?

If we were to install an aftermarket higher flowing fuel pump, that should solve the problem as well right?

SPmotorsports has them.

I just checked with my local dealership about any recalls for zx3 Foci with a VIN number and no racalls have been made. Is the fuel pump faulty on Coupes or Sedans?

Let us know!

Drivefaster,
They should replace your fuel pump under warranty, with my highly modified engine, they warrant my fuel pump. I don't know about how many miles you have on the car, but if it's less than 36000 miles, you should get your money back.

I heard they could change the thing if they knew that it was causing the problem before 36000miles .. even if the car as more than 36000 on it ..

just wondering if that,s true.. caus if its kinda like a recall, then it should be free no? even without my warranty

What a bunch of baloney your dealer told you. Fuel pumps are not designed just to work on >1/2 tank of gas. Yes, <1/2 or <1/4 tank will certainly exacerbate the problem, but >1/2 tank only hides the problem. If it's working right it will work right, including 720 degrees on a skid pad with minimal fuel in the tank.

Bad cat problem Nice excuse for a high-flow cat and new exhaust system
