my car turns off while im driving! - Focaljet

yeah, every once in a while i'll be driving and my car will just turn off. i used to think it was because of low gas but a couple times it's done it on a full tank. i dunno what the problem is. please help.

That is major dangerous to your safety.
There are many reasons this can occur but I would be worried about your safety as we try to diagnose this thing.

My suggestion is to get it to the dealer as soon as possible (and don't pull out in front of anyone till you do)

that happened to me twice when i had my ZTS....both times i was driving on the highway around 65-70 mph , and all of a sudden~~NOTHING.....scared the living sh** outta me....first time the dealer could not find anything wrong.....the second time (after having my car for a week and letting one of the mechanics take it home with him)they found what THEY said was the problem....THEY said that one of the sensors in the camshaft had burnt out--meaning the computer didnt know what position the engine was in,and to protect the engine it just shut off....they replaced it "supposedly" and i never had problem after....im not a mechanic , so like most people i take their word for it ...i recomend taking it to the dealer....or be like me a get it towed in....dealers HATE seeing brand new cars coming in on a tow truck when customers are looking at cars on their lot....good luck....maybe youll get a new one like i did

It could be your fuel pump, I just had mine replaced due to similar symptoms.

I had the same problem with my 01 Focus ZTS. The car just cut out for no reason. I had a DTC code 262 on the display. The dealer repaired the vacuum line to the fuel pressure sensor. Apparently the vacuum line was not connected to the fuel pressure sensor, they thought that the line either just popped off or was never put on at the factory. The strange thing is I have been driving the car for over 9 months now and this is the first time this has happened.

Have your dealer check all the things above and check the relay switch and all wires associated with it.....My car used to do the same thing just cut out on my when i was driving or when i hit a bump....it was due to the relay switch being loose...so have them check that

I had this exact same problem 3 times with my S/R. In talking with the Ford techs (my brother works at the lot so they tend to be pretty honest w/ me) they said the ICM (ignition control modules) which ford was using in many of thier 4 cylinder cars like the older escorts ZX2's and 2000 Foci. I had to have mine replaced 3 times finally I got rid of the car because it almost killed me going around a few corners.

Someone please help...my Focus is sitting on the side of the road dead with the same DTC code of 262. where is the fuel pressure sensor?? Near the fuel injector rail?

I know, dumb question but please make fun of me later...now I just need help!

Tow it in and have it checked, that's the only thing I could think of. It happened to me once when I was driving it on highway with my Superchip in there, but I removed it right after I pulled over on the side, and it's running fine.

this happened to me twice two weeks after i got my car (early Dec.), hasnt happened since though and hopefully wont ever again. if it does im taking it to the dealer.

That has happen to me also, but it did it around 4,000 mile mark. I was in traffic and my car turned off and all the gauges lit up. Another time when I was cornering, I lost power steering also, but it has not happen again my car is a 2001 zx3. Computer glitch most probably,because my car was only 2 months old.Now, my 2000 ZX2 did it as well but it was the I.A.C valve went bad at 22,000 miles.If it keeps happening take it in, very dangerous!!
