Default noisy ride

I just bought a 2000 Focus ZTS (14,000miles)and I love everything except how loud it runs. It's not the engine. My husband thinks its the front wheel drive. I think it sounds like a plane flying overhead. Does anyone else have this problem? Does the car just sound this way or should it be checked? Thanks for any insight.

Well It all depends how noisy is noisy. If it sounds like a plane flying over it...I would suggest you have it checked on a dealership (if under warranty). Mine is a hatch but it doesn't sound like that.

usually road noise is attributed to the size and type of tires you have on the car...Some tires are super quiet, while other tires are howling banshees.

What kind of tire do you have on your ride??

I think I would have all the wheel bearings checked. Especially with history of the rears going bad. They can make a "droning" type of sound, and can be quite loud if they are really bad.

You may want to check the alignment as well.

I think iceman has the right idea. I'm just waiting till my tires wear enough to give me an excuse to replace them with quieter ones. In the meantime I just run the AC all the time and crank up the CD player.
