i could've sworn the focus had a rev limiter at 6250 rmps but i got it up to around 6600 in second yesterday. and duh, no chip either. it was so weird, i saw it pop up there and thought i was seeing things, but damn, there was definitely power to be had.

I believe its 6750 w/out chip. Mines 7100 w/chip.

Do not try to hit the rev limiter!! This is not good for the fuel sys at all. When the engin cuts out you will hear pings some times. Get close to it but stay away for the good of your car. Just shift. You do not make peak power up there.

The "Official" Redline is 6750.
Any higher is just plain pointless. (Unless you're running FI and stronger parts, Otherwise, it's counterproductive) [ 05-30-2002: Message edited by: michaelxi ]
|

Do MTXs have the limiter too or just autos?
Also, is the redline gonna be the same for SPI/IB5? [ 05-30-2002: Message edited by: Jimmy ]
|

MTX, Yes. SPI, Idunno.
Just to check it out, I went and wound 'er out, and found that I WANTED to shift at around 6700 reflexively, but I pushed it a hair farther, and it felt like I started to push the clutch in JUST Before I actually did. I'm assuming it was the fuel cut-out as mentioned above. BTW, I have an MTX 5-Speed. |
