Default Anyone with more than 40000 miles ?

Title says it all. I paid extra $600 for extended power train warranty for 5yrs/100K miles. I also paid another $500 for another extended warranty that covers almost everything but engine & transmission.

Is it worth it guys ? How is your focus after 40K miles ? Is it still running like a champ ??

Thank you,

=dre=

40 thou, no problems except for sticking shifter and fuel pump replacement...the fuel pump could very well happen to you, many people on here have had that problem.

If you're not into modding it like crazy, then I would say the warrenty is probably worth it since there have been quite a few problems with our cars.

Over 42k and no problems. I've had the recalls done and my stock fuel pump has survived so far.

only one sensor and the ignition in the steering column broke, post-warranty. other than that, it's fine.

80,000 and still driving. It needs a couple of new struts and wiper blades but that's about it, The first gear synchros stopped working around 40,000, but the trans and engine are working like new otherwise. The car is still completely stock unfortunately...

Wow...80K miles...
Is your car 5 speed or auto ?
What happen to the syncro gear if it stops working ? How can you notice that ?

thx...

Sorry I'm not on more often, but here's the deal:
When trying to downshift into first gear, the shifter moves but the "gears" grind even with the clutch fully dis-engaged. It can sometimes happen when at a dead stop shifting into first from neutral.

5-speed in case you didn't guess.

I should mention that there was one rear wheel bearing replaced at 42,000 miles and the fuel pump went at about 50,000. The pump was not working properly for about 12,000 miles before they properly diagnosed the problem.
over 81,000 now but the miles will start adding up faster when the weather gets better.

just hit 37k today, (1year and 2.5 months or so)
at 35,800 my battery light came on, the wire going to the alternator broke, and at 36,600, my CEL came on, i was getting on the highway, an it started to stumble, felt like clutch was slipping, then the rpms started to drop till it died on the side of the road, there was a problem w/ the coil, only cost $140, i was scared my brother thought it was a fuel pump, said that would have abeen a couple hundred, i just moved out here and have yet to find a job, was a bit stressful, as soon as i get a job, i'm definatley getting the ESP.

66k replaced tranny under warantee 3 months after purchase, had all front driver side suspention components replaced, last week I replaced the passenger front bearings and now my tranny is grinding and making the driver side axle vibrate.

I'm at 48,300 miles right now. Only problems I've had, other than the various recalls that Ford has put out, are warped brake rotors when the car was new, and the driver's side power window, because the regulator is on the verge of croaking.

At 43,000 miles, There has been four or five CEL's

1. DPFE sensor
2. Spark plug misfire
3. MAF sensor
4. MAF sensor hose clamp
5. PCV hose pinhole and rust perforated PCV tube
I have a 2000 SE automatic. Hopefully, there will be no more incidents while I wait for an MG ZT-T 180 sports automatic to come in from England.

40,143 this morning.

All I have had to replace is a DPFE sensor, a tie rod (cause I hit a tree stump some idiot dropped off their lawn truck), and rear brake shoes.

Almost 47,000 miles. I had a sticky accelerator, which was fixed with a new TB (it was this way from factory, and was very minor). The car also occasionally stalls at idle, or when I hit the clutch. This one has never been fixed, but since I replaced my DiabloSport with a Superchip, it rarely happens anymore. Other than that, it's rock solid. So far, it's been the most reliable car I've experienced ('86 Tempo LX, '91 Escort GT, '97 Contour SE, and 1999 Toyota Camry LE).
