I get 200 miles to the tank, city driving. < 20mpg no matter what I do. Summer or winter. Supercharger eade no real difference up or down. Once the SCt chips are out, we'll see if a few larger MAF, larger injectors and a custom chip can dn better&

It quite possibly could be the winter blend gas...The stuff is crap (I know, I live in NY...We have like 8 months of winter a year) ...The crap they add also has been proven to not do what it is supposed to...It just decreases gas mileage and causes cancer...But enough ranting...
...How about O2 sensors?? ...A faulty one could cause a sudden drop in fuel efficiency...How many miles on your car??

22k or 23k or something
01 zx3

i have NO stalling on right hand turns at any fuel level. i can pull consistant .79g on a turn never with any stalling.

i have cel because my egr tube is sitting in my garage. only drivability slight isssue i have is a rolling rough idel. almost a surging. but it idels ruff smooth ruff smooth ruff smooth. and at about that speed that you can read it. but that is nothing new. since i work for freaking ford as a tech i am gona plug in the wds and do a fuel economy test. and then mayby go back to 100% stock and see what happens.

You might as well be driving an Explorer at that gas mileage A few other people here have reported such poor economy but when they take it to the dealer and they hook up their scan tool it shows 30mpg like it's supposed to. But remember, that's just an inferred, almost instantaneous fuel economy. I'm interested to hear how your WDS diagnosis goes. Post your results, you might help out some other members.

I hate to be a "thread hijacker" but this caught my attention...

I have a 2001 ZX3 (auto) and I have noticed on two occasions when I take a pretty sharp right hand turn at a speed, then accel. out of the turn I get a stall in the engine and a sputter.

I get just over 200 miles on a tank with city driving as well. I have to fill up every week.

What causes the sputter to happen on a sharp turn?? and the crappy mileage?

its the sock filter on your fuel pump being sucked into the suction port and cavitating your fuel pump. add more gas or drop your fuel tank and clean it out and clean the sock and disk filter

With normal driving (6k shifts) i get up to around 240 miles out of the tank. This week im granny shifting at like 3-3.5k and im at 235 miles and have a quarter tank to go still. I just dont see my car ever breaking 300 miles to the tank! Even before the mods the milage has been the same.

These stories of bad gas mileage absolutely amaze me. I'm not saying you guys are crazy or wrong--it's just surprising. I have an MTX. Before I got my supercharger (14 psi JRSC with custom tuning), I was getting between 30 and 33 mpg (97% driving) in warm weather. It would drop a couple mpg in cold weather. I'm an aggressive driver. Since getting my supercharger, I'm getting around 24 to 27 mpg or so with the same style of driving. That's STILL better than what some of you are getting with mostly stock Focuses. That's messed up.

This has been an ongoing problem for me ever since AFTER my 1st tank of gas. The first tank I ever put on the car I got 320 mpt. After that it was all down hill. It's hit an all time low of 200 mpt. Someone tell me what to look for. My fuelpump is fantastic knock on wood. Done a FULL tuneup and then some.

I made an appointment with the dealer regarding the stall issue and asked them if it involved he fuel pump. They told me they have herd about it and would just go ahead and replace it.

We will see if that helps any.

I love my Ford dealer. I asked them to look at a vibration coming from the exhaust (when I first bought my car used) and they just went ahead and put a brand new OEM exhaust on from the cat back

who is having this issue and has a header replaced or aftermarket of any sort. i am thinking mayby there is an exhaust leak before the o2 making the puter think the car is running lean and making it rich to compinsate.

I had this issue when my car was stock...its always gotten HORRIBLE gas mileage even since i've started driving likea granny.....I am thinking its due to the timing being off from the factory or cam gear settings or something

Blended gasoline will equal a few miles less per tank.

If I drive highway w/some local driving I can get around 33 mpg.

If I drive to/from work every day w/no highway driving, and this is local w/stops and about 10 miles total, I get less than 20 mpg and it will get worse w/blended gas. This is because the car never really has a chance to warmup to a good operating temperature. In addition, this means that the oil & filter should be changed more often because this is considered to be in the area of severe driving conditions.

If I do mostly local driving, let's say 20-40 miles a day I get about 24 mpg.

Temperature (outside and/or engine thermostat), blended gasoline, frequency of stop/start all affect mpg.

Just wait and see if fuel prices really spike up at least 40-cents a gallon because, supposedly, the blended gas is not only expensive to make, but they're going to use gasahol (corn derivative) as opposed to methanol (MTBE) or ethanol (ETBE); $2.39 for a gallon? Fuel is already $1.89/gal. here.

Yeah that's kinda low. But even that shouldn't prevent you from getting good mileage that severly.
