I have a 2000 zetec, and I am pulling the AC. I don't really want to break anything or cut anything if I can help it, but I am having a lot of trouble with the clips where the lines go into the firewall. I pulled off the outer clips, but I can't seem to get the lines themselves to release. I tried a fuel line disconnect tool, but that didn't do it. Is there a special tool or trick to removing them?

there is a tool for it. Its a white ring with a slot cut in it. like the fuel line tool. You have to pull pretty hard and they are a raging pain to get at the firewall.

I have the intake manifold off, so I have decent access. Thanks for the info.

Use the right size for the line. I did the removal years ago with a cheap KD "quick disconnect" tool from Napa (I think it was part# 3290).
When using the tool, pull toward the spring lock, then gently tug the line off while keeping pressure on the spring lock. Worked well for me. ![]()

I have that, I'll give it another try before I buy the right tool.
