AC removal question - Focaljet

I have a 2000 zetec, and I am pulling the AC. I don't really want to break anything or cut anything if I can help it, but I am having a lot of trouble with the clips where the lines go into the firewall. I pulled off the outer clips, but I can't seem to get the lines themselves to release. I tried a fuel line disconnect tool, but that didn't do it. Is there a special tool or trick to removing them?

there is a tool for it. Its a white ring with a slot cut in it. like the fuel line tool. You have to pull pretty hard and they are a raging pain to get at the firewall.

I have the intake manifold off, so I have decent access. Thanks for the info.

Use the right size for the line. I did the removal years ago with a cheap KD "quick disconnect" tool from Napa (I think it was part# 3290).
When using the tool, pull toward the spring lock, then gently tug the line off while keeping pressure on the spring lock. Worked well for me.

Now includes rally brake kit, hawk HPS pads, cryoed front rotors, adjustable cam gears, and custom front control arms with delrin bushings. Dynamic suspension. SVT exhaust through flex including Ceramic coated SVT header. Magnaflow catback. Ported '01 manifold, throttle body.
