I've seen two types of capliper kits. one is brush on and the other is spray cans. I dont like the brush type because I can always see the brush strokes. Not to mention most people try and do with the caliper still on and there is tons of stray marks everywhere.
The spray cans are better IMO because if you remove the calipers and take your time cleaning it really well, the paint covers evenly and looks more like a quality powdercoat job.I used to powdercoat calipers but Ive found over the years that for as much as it costs, (150 for four) it is as fragile or more fragile than paint and dosent look remarkably better than a good paint job.

I remove the pistons. The trouble is, I havent been able to find a focus caliper kit for a while now. They disappeared off the market it seems.
so be carefull with the seal!

I don't use special caliper paint.
I use ColorPlace satin black anti-rust paint and first clean the caliper with brake cleaner. I've owned a few cars and painted the calipers with this paint and it works well. It takes a few years to fade and need reapplying. It will run off though if you get brake fluid on it. I prefer a satin look vs glossy. pic: ![]()

I've done two brush-ons, and one spray. So far, I was most impressed with the G2 system. Then brake spray paint. The one I liked the least was the brush-on kit by Duplicolor I think that you can get in any autopart store. Very fragile and weak pain.

I found i really didnt clean the surface well enough when I used spray
some spot stuck really well and others chipped away over time as usual prep is most important and I hurried thru, but gives me a reason to powder them now :-)
