It could be tires. Tire rotation on a Focus is pretty important for smooth operation, along with alignment, but it's usually the rears that cup and vibrate.

It could be a CV joint. You can find out easy enough, just swap your tires front to back and feel/listen for any diference.

Could be the sway bar end links are shot. (about a 10" piece of metal that connects the strut body to the sway bar). Or it's the strut cap bearings... Both of those will cause the noise you're describing. To replace both will prbly run you $50 in parts.

your rota was able to wiggle cause your tire was off. AS for the nosie. start from something like rotating your tires and see if the noise is still there Make sure you torque your wheel nuts to 95lbs/ft

if your going to do your brakes pads including your rotors it is important that you torque your wheel nuts to 95lbs/ft for proper bedding

start from tires, then suspension, and last driveline, jumping from one to another usualy leaves more jumpy. And you don't wanto do that..

i dont know how tight they are. i just tightened them til it cant move anymore. the lugs were really hard to take off today. they havent been removed sence tires were put on about 6months ago. so idont think its anything to due with the tires and lugs

Easy enough to check. If you jack up that side of the car, and try to move the tire by pressing the top and the bottom of it. See if it rocks back and forth. If so your wheel bearing is shot.. If it moves left to right you have some tie rod issues.

My wheel bearing when it was going made a growling noise that was speed dependent. I would imagine it would make lots of noise at all speeds not just a thump.
