Default 130K - what to check

hey all,

my 2001 focus just went over 130K, and i figure it's time to do some maintenance on the stuff you never think about. car still runs strong, i keep Mobil 1 5w20 in it rotated approx every 5K, no funny sounds from the engine that haven't been there since i got the thing new. it's stock except for a chip, CAI and ported TB. i'm taking it in for some suspension work in a few weeks and i just wanted to see what else i should have them inspect/change.

midwestern winters, i don't drive it fast anymore or even frequently (5K a year maybe, mostly highway)

belts? timing chain? vacuum hoses?

thanks!

What engine and transmission do you have?

In any instance, all 2001s should have timing belts. When you replace it depends on your engine.

Start from the top of the engine and work your way down. I would put a call in to Steve for the following:

Plugs
Wires
Coil (maybe)
Air filter (cleaned)
Cabin air filter
Coolant
PS Fluid
Trans fluid
Oil and filter
Accessory Drive belt and tensioner
Timing Belt and Tensioner
Fuel Filter
Brake fluid flush
Check all rubber bushings and mounts for wear

Some may not be necessary but going overboard on maintenance is never a bad thing.
That should keep you ticking for another 130k miles.

You have been on the 'Jet since 2001 with over 3k posts, and you don't know who Steve is!?!?
J/K - although I have trouble believing you don't know who Steve is.
