Default check engine light is on

I only have 23,000 miles on the car. What could be the problem?

There are hundreds of reasons why a code could be thrown. It could be as simple as the gas cap not being tight, or something seriously wrong with the engine. You need to take it to a dealer or autoparts store and get the code scanned so you know whats wrong. Almost sounds like you are still under warranty.

^^ That, or get your hands on a code reader.

I was going to say take it to the dealership. However, I didn't see you have modified your car significantly (turbo). A risk you may have in taking it to a dealer is that they may not cover your repair if your modifications caused the light to come on.

I have turbo and a flasher. I could try flash it and see what code I get.

Your flasher should have some sort of setting where you can read codes, no? If so, go into that mode. What brand of flasher do you have?

I hope you don't mean you're going to flash/reprogram your car's computer now. Most of the time, when people say they are going to flash their ECU, they're implying they are going to wipe out and replace the program that's in there.

Ah, didn't see you had a turbo either...

Quote:
P0108 - BARO/MAP Sensor High Voltage Detected Sensor operating voltage is greater than 5.0 volts (VREF), as a result it failed above maximum allowable calibrated parameter. VREF shorted to VWPR
BARO/MAP signal shorted to VPWR
Damaged BARO/MAP sensor
Damaged PCM
VREF should be less than 6.0 volts. PID reading is in frequency/Volts
Quote:
P0132 Heated O2 Sensor Circuit High Voltage (Bank 1, Sensor 1)

What does that mean?
This involves the front oxygen sensor on Bank 1. This code indicates that the heated oxygen sensor reading is too high. In the case of Ford vehicles, that indicates the voltage at the sensor is over 1.5 volts. Other vehicles may be similar.

Symptoms
You will likely not notice any drivability problems.

Causes
A code P0132 may mean that one or more of the following has happened:

* The oxygen sensor heater circuit is shorted out
* The wiring to the sensor is broken / frayed (less likely)

Possible Solutions
The simplest thing to do is to reset the code and see if it comes back.

If the code comes back, the problem is more than likely the front Bank 1 oxygen sensor. You will likely wind up replacing it but you should also consider these possible solutions:

* Check for wiring problems (shorted, frayed wires)
* Check the voltage of the oxygen sensor

Two ways:

1. Unplug the car's battery for at least 30 minutes. Hook it back up, start the car, and let the car relearn its idling (see owner's manual).

2. I'm pretty sure the SCT Tuner comes with a code clearing ability. Check the manual.

No need to un plug the battery....

In the Xcal there is an option to reset the codes....

One week later, the engine light came back on. I checked the codes with the Xcal and got the same codes.

I suppose it is the bad oxygen sensor and I'll have to replace it.

Edit: Does anyone know the part number?

Yea I still threw codes when my o2 went out, however the car ran like complete **** too. However yours just might not be there yet. Just grab an o2 at auto zone or something and your good to go.

The light came back on so I ordered a new o2 sensor.

The light is out as soon as I installed the new sensor. Few days later, it just came back on. What gives? Did I just waste $50?

First off, double check you didn't knock anything loose or out of line when you installed the O2 sensor. If that's fine, then grab a code reader to find out what the code is. It may be the sensor again, or it might be something in that particular system causing it to read a fault, or it might be something totally different.

Any time you significantly alter the performance through forced induction and/or drastically alter the tuniing, higher octane is almost a necessity.

Check the o2 harness, trace back the wires to c if they are frayed or broken.

I noticed that you have an 07 fofo. I have an 05 and i had to get my primary 02 from the dealer. They go off of your vin # and they are specific to your year and vin thats what the dealer told me. They are $80 at the dealer if you wanna pick one up. Seeing as how you live in Maryland im guessing you have only 2 o2 sensors and they are specific and different from one another as im told by Ford. Where did you buy you sensor from?

I bought one from Steve from Ford Tousley for $50 shipped. They offer best deals on OEM and Ford Racing parts.

I scanned it and it got three codes:

P0106
P0108
P0132

It didn't get PO106 the last time. The car is still running smoothly. I have no clue what trigged those codes. I don't know if it is serious or not. I cleared the codes yesterday and no code so far. Where can I get the info what the codes mean?

P0106 - Barometric (BARO) Pressure Sensor Circuit Performance Baro sensor input to the PCM is monitored and is not within the calibrated value. Slow responding BARO sensor
Electrical circuit failure
Damaged BARO sensor
Damaged PCM
VREF voltage should be between 4.0 and 6.0 volts
PID reading is in frequency
