None that I've experienced.

You also don't have to continually USE those upper revs, but they're kind of intoxicating.

It feels and sounds so good up there.

You might already be able to... Randy's off-the-shelf SVT tune has the limiter at 7500... or at least the three I've driven did.

In my case I don't get to use the 5000+ range much at all since you're already into speeding ticket territory if you run it hard through second gear.

what block takes boost safer? by that i mean how much boost on a stock block can safely be used on the duratec 2.3/2.0 and the zetec 2.0 and svt

Here is my opinnion on the matter. The duratec is a better engine in terms of power & performance. The duratec block is stronger & the heads flow much better than any zetec head.

But Honestly they are a lot harder to work on. The zetec is very easy to work on. N/a the zetecs don't make huge power but they can be built up for FI and make great power.

I'd much rather work on a zetec than a duratec.

I've built, swapped, turbocharged, supercharged & modded dozens of zetecs but only a hand full of duratecs. The duratec is still a better all around engine.

We should all feel so lucky that both zetec & duratec are great engines and lend themselves to modificaton.

In completely stock form I'm pretty sure the SVT Zetec will take the most boost and make the most power.

Once you start building motors with aftermarket internals I think the Duratec will win.

^Totally agree with that.

Which is best from an engine/trans configuration standpoint in both performance and longevity...

As is from factory:
Road course = SVT Zetec, D2.0, Zetec, D2.3
Drag strip = D2.3, D2.0, SVT, Zetec
AutoX = depending on size of course either SVT or D2.3, D2.0, Zetec
Burning rubber from stop light = D2.3 (the rest depends on driver)
Ease of modifying and part availability = Zetec, SVT & D2.0, D2.3

$5,000+ in aftermarket performance parts:
Road course = D2.0, SVT, Zetec, D2.3
Drag strip = D2.3, D2.0, SVT, Zetec
AutoX = D2.3, SVT & D2.0, Zetec

Yes, cubes win for power, but strokers loose for longevity, and that's why the D2.3 doesn't belong at the front for EVERY list.
