Default Rubber grommets on Valve cover

Have a 2002 ZX-5 with Z-tec engine. Changed the valve cover gasket and noticed the new gasket came with rubber grommets. There was no grommets when i took off the old one. Do i need to use them and where do they go? Thanks in advance.

Where did you get the gasket?

Sounds like you got one for the old Zetec with a metal cover. If you have a plastic cover, the grommets are not used. Did the gasket fit?

I was gonna say the same thing. That sounds like a gasket kit for the '95-'97 Contour Zetec.

not true..
if you are not getting oem stuff, it comes with grommets..
when i was in the states, i went to napa to grab and it came with grommets and it was for focus zetec, not contour/escort/mystique metal zetec..

You might find non-OEM gaskets still leak. I've had the best luck with Motorcraft valve cover gaskets.
