The front is easy enough to figure out, but I've never tried the back.
How do you check or replace the rear drum pads on our Foci?

You can inspect the brake shoes by removing the brake drum.
R&R'ing the shoes are pretty standard. I could email you the instructions or you can look it up. It would take up to much space here for me to list all the steps. Let me know. It is not a difficult job, you would probably want to buy a brake spring remover..I use a screw driver but that can be dangerous if it slips. |

How do you get the drum off? That cap is so tight. Do you just have to work it out with a screwdriver?

First make sure the E-Brake is not set -
Then try my old method of just hitting the thing all the way around with a rubber mallet. That has always worked for me. Also: Don't use a hammer - the drum is made from cast iron and would probably shatter. Anyone else have a good idea? >8^) ER [This message has been edited by Peloton25 (edited 02-27-2001).] |

Peliton.....don't hit it with a hammer
are U nuts!!! Just to let you know you could pound on that thing all day You either have to remove the entire hub, or remove the bearing nut. Both have to be retorqued |

Ok, I know this is going to sound crazy but...
all you have to do is take the wheel off. Poke your head in the wheel-well and look behind the big control arm. There will be four 13mm or 14mm, I can't remember what size exactly, bolts that hold the drum on to the car. They are kind of tricky to remove, but it is not that bad. Remove those bolts and just pull the drum off, and you are good to go. |

I just did my rear brakes and it was a pain. I would take it to a pro to get the rear drums done. I also did the front disc brakes, they were cake. Go to this sight, it has some basic mods and how to info.
