Default Clarification on \"slang\" for wheels

dubs = 20 inch wheels
blades = ? (im guessing chrome?)

Wheels and rims are the same thing? Or do "rims" only apply to aftemarket and not the stockers??

Are there any other slang words to refer to these?

wheels = the part that attaches directly to the lugnuts. this is what most people get as aftermarket parts.

wheel covers = a plastic/metal combination that goes over the wheel, to give it a "classier" look. lots of cars come with wheel covers and steel wheels (i.e., focus lx)

hub caps = sometimes confused with wheel covers, this is a portion that goes directly over the hubs, or lugs. lots of trucks are made this way, as are the focus zx3, zts, etc.

rims = often, far too often, confused with "wheels", a rim is a thin piece of metal, creating a "ring", or "rim", to be placed around the outter edge of a wheel to give it some "bling bling" effect. again, lots of trucks use these (i.e., chevy s10).

hope that clears up a bit.

here's the way I see it...

rims/wheels-same thing. rims is just a slang term, but yes often used incorrectly.

Dubcaps-the ultimate upgrade for anyone who hangs out at Pepboys These are chromed-out wheel covers that usually only available for 14in or smaller wheels.

Blades- Big Wheels. These are like Lexani, Polos, Neepers, etc...almost a complete wall of chrome. Check out any Big Tymers or Hot Boys video...(Number one Stunna!!)Usually between 18" - 23" depending on whether these are on a car or SUV.

Dubs- Real deal wheels, 20" usually chrome or platinum. Remember the Spreewell wheels that keep spinning after you stop, those are extreme dubs.

actually one of my favorite funny move quotes...Next Friday between DayDay and Craig..

"Got them 20's on there...."
"Them ain't 20's, but they off the hook."
"Them are 20's...nah you right, they 'teens..."

And another from St. Lunatics...track 17 or 18.

"We coming for ya....we ain't got no 23's, but we gots 17's, and we still coming for yo ass."

sorry, these quotes might not be exact, but still funny.

I just found this post and wanted to add a term.

Jordans

23 inch rims. Named after Micheal Jordan's number on the Washington Wizards.
