Default Re: A Focus-friendly tire diameter chart

i have an 06 ST
with factory tires, yes factory
was thinking of going up a size to 17" but not dropping the series, i.e. 205-50-17 id possible, the tire would be one inch bigger overall, what problems will i see?
also i was loking at some rims, in fact most rims i have looked at are +42 off set, where discount tire guys say +43-60 is the reccomended offset range. whats your guys opinion. it will be mostly for looks, i wanted to fill the wheel well a bit more, with out giving up any cushion. if not the 205-50, maybe 215-45 tires...... this is all assuming i find a deal i cant passup, ad 800.00 bones for tires and wheels IS alot of gass!

trivee

p.s. off subject, but who all has 06 ST's? i have alot of questions to ask about the 'factory' tendancies on the car.

peace

I recommend starting a new thread to ask your question. (Both of them)

Personally, I wouldn't consider a 205/50-17. That is a 25.07" tall tire. I try to keep the tire diameter under that of the factory OE SVT setup, which is 24.62" (215/45-17)

215/48-18 --- 25.6 tire works on foci. now just to put out there with all the different tire sizes i think the one part of the equasion to figure out if there is rubbage is rim offset. ------ my offset is 49m and no major rubbing. meaning this, where i live is the best test for suspension. NEW YORK POT HOLE CITY. original svt suspension with 90k miles. i just put pro kit springs on rear. so yes i need new struts and springs but that goes to show what kind of rubbing i get. i get the kind where when u hit any thing that makes shocks really depress then i get rubbing. smooth road normal bumps and dip no rubbing. rubbing is in the front on the black inner linning (splash shield) of fender where it meets outer fender and thats it no where else. im guessing with pro kit struts no rubbing unless really hit something hard.--------- hope this helps.
