While the caliper might be the same...

the knuckle is definetally different.

SVTs are 300MM and 05s & STs I thought were 278MM.

Larger then the 258mm 00-04 brakes, but smaller then an SVT?

I 'believe' this is true. I've test fit an 04 and was satisfied that it all bolted up. The SVT parts that is.

However...I also noted that it appears the lower ball joint may be a tad larger on this part. Doesn't mean didly to me but you guys swaping parts around might find it a problem fitting the 04+ part on an earlier car. Dunno.

Yes, knuckle is different from ST, SVT, and standard ZX3. The ball joint IS bigger on the ST vs. early ZX3 and all SVT models.

I just swapped mine over on the 2001 ZX3 to ST front brakes and was looking at performance pad options.

Can anyone post links to the sites, maybe on the first page? Would be really helpful. Thanks.

I can get the full SSBC setup for 1750 dollars. All 4 corners. 13" up front and 12" in back. I'll get a link to the website. The setup comes with Stainless Steel Braided Brake lines as well.

Thanks! Question about that, what about brake bias? Front to back if I was to only go with rear disc brake kit?

I think the SSBC kit uses a larger rear rotor then the stock front rotors on a NON-SVT so your bias is going to be throw off.

not to metion, having a 2 piston caliper in teh rear, vs a 1 piston in the front is going to throw it off as well.

if your gona do rears only, i'd either go with SVT rears or advancetrack rears.

I won't be so bold to sepculate on what is or can change with regard to bias without some harder data.

On the surface of it, a 12" rear rotor is quite large. But if the front caliper is such that they have much greater piston area then things can come back to you.

Note however that any of these "two pot" calipers will still be floaters and not as responsive as a fixed mount part.

I can't see any reason for installing such a kit on the rear of a car without a properly matched front kit either.

Hi, all. My English not well, but I hope you understand me and help. I have Focus 1.8L 115hp with rear drums(it's like yours ZX but with IB5 gearbox) and in Europe we have Focus ST170 (it's like yours SVT). I have read this topic and look Ford parts catalogand concluded that to install:

1)rear breaks from SVT I have to bolt on all AT car parts like:spindle, hab&bearing, caliper, hoses, pads, cables for handbrake - they all the same on SVT. But brake discs, caliper bracket only for SVT. Is it right?
2)front brakes from SVT. first of all I have to replace SVT wheel knuckle because of different SVT caliper dimensinons of tier? Somebody said that need to replace spindle but there is no spindle only hub and this hub the same for all cars except RS. Also I have to replace brake discs, calipers, pads only for SVT. Is it so? BUT I HAVE IB5 GEARBOX (as I know you have MTX75 gearbox). If I change front knuckle my hub fit to both joint and SVT knuckle? or if I buy SVT hub (but according to Ford catalog they are all the same) is it fit to my joint(IB5 GEARBOX)?
Thanks.

Are the ST rear discs the same as the Advance track? I'd like to upgrade the fronts & rears to SVT, but am still wondering what all would be needed. I'll be putting my SVT Hawk HPS pads on the calipers front & rear probably this weekend, so will know for sure if they are a direct fit. I've read and searched, and found conflicting info. So since the ST lower ball joint is different on the knuckles than the SVT's, does that then mean you'll still need an SVT knuckle to fit the larger SVT discs on the ST? If not, then all I'd need for the front conversion, if the ST calipers are the same as the SVT calipers, would be the SVT caliper mounting bracket & SVT rotor?

Edit: I may just have to be the guinea pig, buy all the SVT front & rear stuff, and see what needs to be used & what doesn't. Oh well, someone's gotta be the first

Closed for housekeeping... I'm going to be cleaning up this thread over the weekend to get it back to being more informational and less conversational.

Todd - Shoot me a PM if/when you want any of your info updated.
