Guess what? 225/50R16 fits on factory 16x6 wheels with no rubbing!! I've been 3-wheeling this car all over the place trying to get it to rub, and it just won't, not even the fender liners!! It might be able to touch the top fender lip if I ever made it to the bumpstops, but thats hard to do on the stock suspension, even on Michigan roads. I'll pull the springs out on one side and cycle the suspension to check one of these days.
I went with some Kumho Ecasta SPT's. With the factory backspacing, I can't even get my pinky finger between the strut and tire... talk about maximum usage of all available space. If the wheel would be even a half inch wider, they would rub the strut without more backspacing. Soon as I get permission from the wife, I'll order up a set of Rota's (w/ 40mm backspacing) and re-mount these tires on them instead. With a 6" wide wheel, you'd think the tires would be very pinched, but they actually work perfectly fine thanks to being a 50-series tire. I'll get the accelerometer out this weekend... I've got to be pulling nearly a full g on the stock suspension.
The car looks SICK with these meats on!!! The wheel-well's are actually full of tire for a change. I'll post pics later today after work.

I have to recomend against 130-70 slow downs on the street.
Uhhh... holy cow... I definately don't do that crap on the street dude. Thats a great way to go to kill someone. One of my friend's family members owns an old country airport 20 miles from my house... about 3/8 mile of bumpy pavement including the service drive, but its not in use anymore, so we all get to go haul-ballz on it anytime.
My Focus is loud enough... could you immagine 20 other people at the same time? Only way I get away with it now is cuz I have permission, and because its out in a rural county. Going to stay that way
