Default Winter tires?

I'm trying to decide on which winter tires to go with for this year...I've used the Firestone Winterforce in the past and had great success, but that was a 185/65-14 and I am going to be using a 205/55-16. So I am looking for opinions/suggestions on what to use.

Currently the two that I am looking at are the Winterforce and the General Altimax Arctic.

Thanks.

Mike

Noikan Hakkapeliittas is the best if money is no object.

Do you have to use a 205/55R16? The traditional thinking is thinner is better. Since you have an 07, as long as you haven't drastically modified the brakes, you should be able to use 15-inch steel rims and go 195/60R15.

Nokian Hakkapeliittas are great. I've ran the WR and the RSi.

This year, I'm giving Gislaved Nord Frost 5 a shot.

Ultimately, it depends on your budget and driving. If you got a lot of icy conditions, you may consider more of an ice tire (like a Bridgestone Blizzak or Micheline X-Ice 2). If you drive a lot of highway, you may need to filter out choices based on speed ratings (some are as low as Q, and some are as high as H). If you have been happy with the Winterforce and haven't changed your driving much, there's no reason why you shouldn't have to change brands. I mean, at least you're running winter tires

Thanks. As much as I wouldn't mind running the 15's, I already have two sets of OE 16's, the ones that came on the car originally and a set of the 6-spoke ones, so the tires will be getting mounted on one of those two sets (probably the 6-spoke).

As for price range, I'm hoping to only have to spend about $400 or so max, but I can go as high as $450, so I may have to stick with the Winterforce. Any idea how the Generals are compared to the Winterforce?
