Exclamation Most aggressive Offset with 215/45/17 and lowered?

I just installed the SALEEN lowering kit, and I am going to order my 17s on Tuesday along with my 215/45/17 tires from DISCOUNT TIRE.

I am looking to really fill out the wheel wells and I don't want the wheel overly receded back inside, but on the same note I don't want it to rub the fender or stick out either.

What offset (or range) should I go for? The wheels I was looking at are 42, but I am afraid that is not going to work.

I'm using a 42 offset, but with 225/35/17 on 7 1/2" wheel.

with 49mm offset EAPS on 215 45 17.

with Exel F1's 17x7 42mm offset with 215 45 17 neo gens.

Most aggresive would be a 43-45.

I have some rubbing with my 215/45R17 with a 42 offset. But thats when people are in back seat or with a stereo in.

But to be safe, a 47-49 is what I'd recommend.

49mm would be great. Doesn't look "sucked in" and no rubbing issues whatsoever.

Crap, well I have a fairly heavy arse stereo back there.

The wheels I was looking at are Oz Hydras, 17x7 with a 42MM offset, and I am going to be running the Kumho Ecsta MX tires...of which I can't find a true section width rating for the life of me. not even Kumho has it listed...

Think that will rub with the Saleen drop?

In the rear, most likely yes...

When I did my MXs for autoX so I did'nt rub any, I went with a 215/40 R 17. Maybe an option? Don't know.

But the rear fenders will most likely rub, even if you roll the fenders, which mine are, and still rub once in a while...

i ran 215 40 17's with no rubbing issues but when i went to a 215 45 17 i rubbed. is say a 42mm with a 2" drop is alright on 215 40's. u gotta play with it some more.

By play, you mean camber wise? LOL

Each manufacture has their own idea of a 40, or 45 series sidewall. So it depends on tire. But sounds like any 215/45R17 on a decent drop will rub on a 42mm offset. I never rubbed with a 47mm offset on 215/40R17.

i never rubbed with 215 45 17's and a 2" drop on Stock EAP wheels.

by the looks of my clearance which was NONE lol....the farthest I would come out would be a 45mm offset

Which kit exactly did you have? I have a 2006 ZX3 with the SALEEN kit...any idea how they compare?

I would ideally like to run the 45 series, but I don't want to have a serious rub either...

Also, excuse my ignorance, but the lower the offset the more it comes out, right? so a 45 for instance would be less aggressive than a 42?

Correct on the offset. The higher the number, the closer it is to the hub.

The EAP wheels are +49mm.

My wagon rubs up front, my hatch rubs out back...

My wagon has KW green springs, and SVT 5 spokes with 215/45R17 tires. Rubs up front sometimes under hard corners. Depends on how I play with teh throttle...lol...

FWIW, I rub up front under full lock and big dips when I run my snow tires. 205/55/16 on the stock 16x6 wheels. I believe they are 52.5mm offset? I'd imagine the SVT guys would have a bit less trouble since their turning radius is a bit larger.

I had 215/45/17's on my EAP wheels with an H&R Cup Kit and it rubbed on the front when I hit dips in the road.

Im cofused, the more the offset the more towards the outside or inside the wheel/tire will go?

Example: i have the SVT wheels with 49mm offset, a caliper wouldnt clear the spokes so i need more offset or less offset?

Thanks in advance

offset is distance of the hub face from the center line of the wheel, lower will stick the wheel out more, higher number is more sucked in.

oh and i took care of rubbing up front by throwing some 215/40/17 dunlop direzza dz101 z1 star specs on.
