Good info. I have talked with a couple of people at the track and the Star Specs/RE01R tires will grease up really bad if pushed too hard.
On the other hand, for regular HPDE stuff, I don't care what tire I am running. I have ran Falken ziex 512, Azenis 615 and 215, Nitto NT555, and sumitomo HTR H4. I had fun and learned a lot using each of those tires. So to be honest, I wouldn't purchase an uber-expensive high performance summer tire. Lap times do not matter. Learning the limit of the car and the tires adhesion is what matters. Some tires are noisier, break away slightly different, but I would go cheap. What tires do you have currently? They have already been purchased, so it doesn't get much cheaper than that.
