There are many better tires for the money, and for only a small bit more money you can have MUCH Better tires.
I Refuse to buy "High Dollar" Tires, as I cannot afford them and I can have so much for reasonable money. I'm not being elitist in my Complete Dissatisfaction with the 512's. It's not about price, it's about "Bang For The Buck".

i dont want to argue with you, you might pour cheese all over my head

I just did the finger nail test on a 912 tire last night and it told me it uses a softer compound than the 512.

That could be good OR bad...
In My Experience, the compound was decent for the application that it was intended, BUT wear was Too quick, (Softer could be even worse...?), Hydroplane Resistance was lacking, (Surprising with those HUGE Circumferential Grooves), and BECAUSE of those huge grooves (Which weren't all that helpful), it had too much tread squirm.
I haven't seen the 912's yet. How different is the tread pattern?

The 512's were Acceptably Decent in the Dry, AFTER they were over halfway worn out.

Wow!
Even LARGER Void Space. (I Think... Just Eyeballing the pics)
Unless they are Much more Firm, that could exacerbate the main problem that I experienced.
I sure Hope that they evacuate water better than the 512's.

Well 1/2 of the water being moved from the tire is being moved by the sipes the other 1/2 is being moved by the grooves that are in the tread. so yes the 912s wil move water and have better hydroplane resistance than the 512s. The cool part about the 912 is the fact its 2 tires in one. Its an all season on one side and a directional on the other( asymmetrical ).

i got the 912s about 7000 miles ago and having no problems with any thing, no noise, great traction wet or dry, and the tires dont spin nearly as much as they used to with the stock hankook pos's

the dealer i work at is using both the dunlop direzza and the 912s on used cars. 912s are pretty good i like em. the direzza might last a little longer but between the two i cant feel a difference in grip. now mind you we sell g35 coupes and sedans so i dont know what it would be like on a focus. the direzzas are cheap. i can get a 215/45 17 for around 70 bucks a pop.

This specific direzza is one of the stickiest street tire on the market.
