Default 17x8 options?

Hey jetters,

Info on car first; I had the RS wheels which are 18x8 and 42et (not sure exact et) 235/40's and I didnt rub. I have cut the fenders up a little over 2 inches all the way around.

Now I am looking for some 17x8 options for my car. I want to run either a 255 or 245 tire, with 40 or 35 et...

Have you seen any that look similar to a CEN28 style? Thanks for the help.

-Kyle

i run a team dynamics pro race 1.2 in 17x8 40et, with a 235/40/17, but that tire is already slightly pinched, a 245 or 255 will be really pinched and not much benifit

Those bicycle wheels won't fill the fenders.

Get yourself some 9.5's and roll correct.

I was going to write the same thing, though a 245 street tire won't look bad on an 8" wheel. We run 225 rcomps on an 8" wheel and it looks pretty good.

As a matter of fact, a 245/45-17 on a 17x8" wheel is a factory Mustang fitment for 99-04 GTs and 99-01 Cobras.

Probably be a tad less pinch w/ the extra sidewall though.

Any photos by chance? Thanks!

Thanks for comments, a 245/30/17 should work fine then. Now... other wheel options?

If I were you I would run the Mustang Cobra replica's 17x8.5 26mm et that are on Ebay. Throw a 235/40(maybe up front) or 245/40-17's on there. Bone nasty. That will fill the wells better.

It wouldn't be too bad on RS fenders.

Some 205-45R17's and it would fit stock wells pretty decent, no?

Mitch you should know that 17x8.5's 26mm et do not fill RS wide body flares, I recommended those tires to help fill the gap. I am trying to be informative, please don't be a jerk. If I am wrong, prove me wrong I invite it, I would like to know all angles.

I also recommended the 17x8.5's as a better option than the 17x8's, not because it is the best option, fyi.

If he was running 17x8.5 with stock body, then I would say 205/45-17 all the way. I guess what you are saying is run 205's on wheels that are inside of the wheel well?

mmm... a lot of rubber
for 17x8 i think that 215/40 is one of the best size... with a little stretch.

not being a dick, just figured you were joking around with the bone nasty comment... RS flares might be a different story but for reference....
15x8 19et with a 205/55(iirc) tire and dumped....

a 8.5 26et will sit at pretty much the same outer point but with a 235 or 245 there will be a LOT of extra meat beyond that tire and having seen a few RS kits there isn't THAT much space unless you have OEM RS fenders and not flares.
on a stock bodied car, you'd need to unfold the lips and roll/flare the hell out of them and run the car pretty high not to rub! you're talking a tire that is almost an 1" wider(or more depending on the tire) on EITHER side!!!

you'd have to be running pretty crazy camber to fit that in a Focus, RS flares/fenders or not.
WRC fenders would be a different story!

I agree a Mitch... My 18x8 235's 42et was very close.... take off 20mm? I bet for sure I would rub in front... maybe not in the back though.

Thats why I'm thinking running... anywhere from 35-45ets, 17x8 or 17x8.5, with 245/30's.

Now any options on styles?

Thanks again,
Kyle

Yes, but that's the complete wrong size for that wheel.

It fit, that's great, it looked good, but it's a full 1 inch bigger than any 17in tire we are talking about.

235-40R17 = 24.4in
235-40R18 = 25.4in <- 'uge.

No biggie...just sayin.

Hmmmm I thought we were talking about offsets and widths... lol

Also saying that is the wrong tire size is completely relative to what you are going for. Going for OEM match then yes wrong. But in my case I dont care about an OEM match.
