The calipers from a MK3 mondeo are the same as the ST170 ones so am i right in saying that the hubs are similar? Is it at all possible to swap from 4 stud hubs to 5 stud hubs so that i can fit the mondeo factory fit 18" rims to my ST170
This is my first post here from sunny england so be gentle

It is, but the width and the rim offsets are different be forewarned.

The Spindles should be the same diameter for both the four and five lug hub. Heres a couple pics of my five lug hub. Please excuse the quality, I need to buy a camera since mine is busted.

did you press the bearing on already? how are you going to get that installed without destroying the bearing or is it a "slip fit"? ![]() so the 5bolt hubs are the same spline count, shape and size? the OD on the bearing surface of the hub neck is the same? the length of the neck on the hub is the same? the overall bearing size is the same? what about the rear? links? pics? if the rears are not the same then this is really useless as what good is the fronts fitting if the rears still dont!?

I never did the conversion, but the hub came already pressed and ready to go. I don't know about the spline count I never made it that far in, I've been working on the research for those that want to do this conversion as a contribution to the boards. Talk to Trevor at fordpartsuk.com tell him Nathan sent you, or hit up your ford dealer to take a look at a five lug hub and Focus spindle. I'm assuming the spindles are identicle. But it might be on the safe side to order spindles as well. When you order the hubs they come pressed with the bearings.

i'm confused here... you've been working on the research but you have neglected the spline count and the are assuming the knuckle(not a spindle, sorry) are identical?
lol.... you might want to get a little deeper into the research before you post about it working or not. the spline count, shape and size, the OD on the hub bearing surface, the bearing size and number, the length of the hub neck are all EXTREMELY important specs to have before you even consider a swap like this or you could just be throwing away money. those would be the first area's i'd be researching if i was planning on doing this swap. And i certainly wouldn't be ordering parts without knowing at least approximate numbers on such things. if you are order parts from a dealer, it doesn't take much to get the parts guy to run in the back and slide the hub over a focus drive shaft rather than ordering and hoping for the best!?! as far as the bearing coming pressed onto the hub already.... leads me to believe it's a different design knuckle(not a spindle, sorry)!

I said I'm still working on it but I'm working under the "Standardized Parts" theory right now.Which is why I'm under assumption the spindles are the same for either hub. When I get the time I'll be heading to the salvage yard since its a five minute drive to pick up more suspension parts to see how much is need for a full conversion. As opposed to driving thirty minutes to my nearest Ford Dealership. I'll probably head to a Mazda Dealership as well and look at the hubs and spindles on the Mazda 3.
