Default Wheel Color

Ok so the time has come to paint my wheels again. My right wheel cylinder was leaking (its been fixed) and as a result ruined the finish on my wheel. Also the front wheel was ruined by mechanics. They are 5 spoke svt wheels on my white zx3...

Theres the car w the current color... Im lookin to go a lil extreme on the color. I was thinkin Green (takata), or Orange. Maybe Blue, like that mag blue... Yellow? My buddy wants me to do black, but i Dunno...

How bout I try and polish em?

Ideas guys! I know you all have crazy stuff goin through your heads that youve been wantin to try, let me know!

Or should I just stick w black...

Heres the orange Im aimin for

Heres Takata green

Blue?

Yellow?

I know I need a drop. Nuttin that a cutoff wheel cant handle... Lol

Amber..Not orange and not yellow...Amber. Try and match your stock marker lights for the color. If you go with Amber, put the stock markers back in. No one I know of has done it. Worth a thought...

He would need to lose the yellow fogs then. The orange and yellow together would be nasty...

I like the white...IMO...

Don't do MAG blue, thats just gross when people try to copy it...

The wheels are just factory wheels, so I don' tthink they can pull off the Takata green, or the yellow of the BBS' on the Scion...

I'd say keep em white, or go black with a white time attack stripe or something...

Agreed, fogs would need to be returned to stock also.

i agree with the comment about amber/bronze, would look cooler without yellow fogs, but i dont think you have to match it to your signal lights, it would look great with them blacked out the way they are.

white looks pretty amazing though.... black looks cool on a white car, especially with your headlights and such, but you may find that you'll never really be able to see the definition of your wheels again, unless you're in the right light/angle.... that's what i find with mine anyhow, and i only did gunmetal. A lighter colour sort of shows off the angles of the wheel better, IMO.

but if you're bent on wacky colours, do the green, but try to match that new RS green, its a little lighter than the one you showed as an example, would work really nice with a white car. would kind of remind me of ken blocks colour scheme a little...

No I hear ya about the dark color. When I bought the car, the wheels were gunmetal and I really didnt like em. And thats what im afraid of with the black, that its going to look like a huge gaping hole in my wheel well. But it does match w my headlights....

How about polishing the very outter lip closest to the tire... Anyone ever done that before? Or have a pic of it. I imagine it wouldnt be very hard to do. Just a dremel, and some tape I think...

That amber sounds pretty cool, but anyone know where to get that color? I looked last night at walmart, and at Ace, but couldnt find it.

i don't think you'll get very good results trying to get the polished look from these wheels. i could be wrong about that, especially since you're just considering the lip. a friend of mine said he's seen this done to a stock wheel and the results aren't good, because the metal would require such a huge amount of sanding to get the right effect. but like i said, i could be wrong about that. you could always mask and paint the lip silver, but it wouldn't look as nice.

as for the bronze i would check this out. ive used the gunmetal, the white and the clear and this is some of the easiest stuff to paint with, i get amazing results even when i have done crappy prep work, i love it. and you should be able to get it at any autoparts store, maybe even wal-mart. you could do bronze with clear, i think that would look great, or just bronze for a more semi-gloss plastic look, but not sure if that's the right colour for you.... im thinking about doing this over the gunmetal on my wheels, on a black car. would look awesome on black

I know, thats the stuff Im usin, well the clear anyway. It leaves kind of a metallic finish over the base color. I think its ***** sweet! Ive tried the bronze before, and I was a lil disapointed, but I love the clear. And I think ive decided on black, w that clear...

HOWEVER, I have a seperate set of wheels (Enkei RS6) that Im getting dismounted and going to repaint as well... And I believe that these would look better in an extreme color... like green... since they ar a wider offset, and the have 6 spokes. ill post a pic.

Dont mean to change subject, just tryin to keep a project goin, keep myself busy. So these ^^, green? you think? should i paint the fake rivets the same color?

Or how bout Ken Block style... The whole wheel white, and paint just one spoke another color, like black. or yellow to match my fogs... Bad idea? Or not gonna look good...

Keep them white!! Look soooo good.

If you're going to do orange, do them in Burnt Copper Metallic (Ford color). I would do coilovers first though if you're going to do an extreme color.
