Hey rod!
![]() Allright a 56k warning is a warning for people who have dialup connections (Ie: 56k Modems). Most people with dialup internet access don't bother waiting on large files to load. If a post has alot of pics in it you put a 56k warning on it to save the dailup users the trouble of opening the post. Broadband access has been around for a while and people forget just how slow dialup is to cable or DSL. It's basically a courtesy to the less fortunate. ![]() The right click save as stuff is just what it means. If someone posts a link to a video. Instead of opening it up directly from the internet and popping up a video player program. You can right click on the link with the mouse and choose "save target as" to download the file without opening it. This way you can watch it at a later time if need be and also view it over and over again because it's stored on your pc. |

56k warning means that there pictures inside that if you not on a high-speed connection might take a really long time to load.
and "right-click save as" means that you should right-click on the link, and select "Save As..." to download it to your computer before you watch it, instead of having it stream off of the host's website, which can hog up bandwidth. |

Thanks!
I guess I am one of the unfortunate as I have dial up... I just always patiently wait for the pics. I always wondered if the 56K thing meant that the computer would get locked up or something. I don't know how fast my dial up is (if that can vary?). If you "right click save" wouldn't that make you vunerable to getting a virus? Or are you just as vunerable simply by clicking on the link without saving anyhow? |

Gigaherz is right, you're vulnerable either way. However, if you download it to your desktop, you can scan the file for viruses and check to make sure it's okay. The other way you automatically open it and you could be attacked!
99 percent of the time they probably won't be laced with a virus! |

I'm not sure that is totally accurate... It said I have 2777kbps through my 802.11b/Comcast Cable setup. That's... not really possible. EDIT: Cool... Second try it rated me above a 30Mbps T3. ![]() |

But once you left click the "save as" and select the location you want to save to, then click "save" yea your on your own. But it would probably take alot more effort than it's worth to write a virus and post it, since you'd be completely limited to html. Anyways, to make a long post longer.. no right click is non-invasive. You're safe pretty much right-clicking anything. |

44-45k(or less) is common for me. The fastest I've seen is 48k. I never bother with videos here. Glad my son has cable at our other place (and work). Louie. |
