another new member.....
just want to introduce myself before I start posting any where on this forum.
I've been reading on this forum for about 2 days and after seeing that there is actually good detailed information on here VS other forums with all the flaming,and ricers, I decided that this is a forum I wouldn't mind joining.
Let me put it out there for you. I'm an Honda 2nd gen CRX enthusiest. I own 3 of them and auto-x 2 of them with the 3rd being my daily driver and guinea pig. the mods for these cars are long enough for two pages so thats where I wil stop with them as this is a ford forum! I'm a Ford guy at heart and will always be one.
I've owned 3 Ford ZX2's(may they rest in peace"s") rangeing from 98 zx2 hot auto, 2000 red zx2 S/R (my baby) to my 02 red zx2. Yeah, it use to be my favorite car by Ford, above the mustang NO LIE!!! The first rex I rolled 3 times, the S/R I still have but at my fathers with the pistons in a bucket of gas and a tarp over the car(me and my dad don't talk to each other long story!!). the 02 zx2 I wrapped around a telephone poll on black ice in North Carolina( A old lady pulled out in front of me) the damage was minimal, just crushed in the rear left side wheel and suspension ($2500.00 in damage) the kicker! I had NO insurance at the time, it was canceled just 2 days before it happened due to non payment. Oh I still hate myself for not paying!
I've owned my 01 ford Focus for about 1.5 yrs now. Its ofcourse payed off.
Its yellow(zx3) with 50,247 miles as of yesterday. Its an auto because at the time I bought it, it was for my wife and you know how most girls are about having to shift gears(lazy)or (I don't know how) I think (Lazy) more than anything!!
well, about 2 months ago when "Aunt Flow" never came we realized that she was pregnant so we opt. for a 4door suv instead of her trying to put a baby in a 2 door car and an suv is safer! Well sense once I pay a car off I never get rid of it(I own 6 cars, My wife hates it put ohhh I dont)
NEVER!this focus is the only auto I own! I hate auto trannys, I always feel like i'm gonna brake the damn things, Ive busted 3 auto trannys in my years!
I have the usual bolt ons for it:JBA shorty header,CAI,magnaflow Exhaust,etc.
Its peppy for what it is but If i'm gonna keep and be driving this thing, its atleast got to be able to keep up with my daily driver rex! I think the first of my goals are to scrap the auto tranny! I feel this thing is really holding back the cars potential.
I've never done an auto to manual swap on a car this new before. i'm ASE certified and have about 4yrs technical experience behind my belt so i'm no newb to working on cars, plus i've built my rex's from the ground up(strickly for racing).
I know this type of swap is more difficult then finding a new one with manual, but I'll never find a focus with a engine as well kept and clean as mine. Sense 5000 miles when I bought the car, for 45,000 miles I have changed the oil every 1500 miles religeously and never put any oil or coolant in this car other than motorcraft 5w-20 and motorcraft oil fliter. thank you for reading -Chad
