New Here - Focaljet

Hey everybody. I am new here as the title says, and I was just checking in here to see the best ways to do some things with my car. This January I bought a 2003 Focus ZX3 with the 2.0 Zetec engine. I was just thinking that I am tired of having my car be stock so I went searching on the internet and found this place.

But pretty much, I am looking for the most bang for my buck as far as suspension, exhaust, and rims/tires. I am open to all suggestions.

By the way I am 16 so when I say bang for my buck I mean that i don't have the funds to go big.

Welcome.

So far, the best bang-for-buck suspension seems to be the Ford Racing SVT suspension kit. For a full set of dampers, springs, and rear stabilizer bar, it lowers the car about 1/2-inch yet maintains a good ride (so you don't kill yourself daily). Our Forum sponsors carry the kit -- some can even get them at a LOT cheaper price because of their sponsor status.

As for rims/tires, I guess it's up to you how you want to go. Even just changing the brand or type of tire on there right now can change how the car feels. Our sponsors at Tire Rack have a good site that you can look at rims and tires, and you can view a Focus with whatever rims they carry.

how hard is it to install the suspension? is it somehting i would need to take to a shop or could i do it myself?

If you're comfortable doing it yourself, not long from what others have posted (provided you get the right tools). A shop would cost more, but having a reputable place do it makes it easier and saves you time (basically paying for convenience).

usually your paying alot for convenience...As far as the svt kit thats what i would go with if you dont have too much money to throw around, do the the tousley ford section and PM or call Steve there, he is an awesome guy and will get you set up with everything you need.

and probably more, he tends to be good at telling you he has things that he knows you want, then you buy them
