Default too many choices

hello everyone,
the reason i joined, was to get some info or insight. i have a 2000 4dr SE with the "SPI" motor, with about 150k miles on it. the car is going to be payed off very soon. and with gas price now, the only reason to get rid of the car is it has no "balls". the car will not be a daily driver. so i'm considering rebuiling the current motor . the only thing is i can't leave things stock or whats the point. and there is very little aftermarket available. so that leaves me with a swap-out. but there are too many choice's. do i go Ztec or Duratec? would love to go with the 2.3 duratec, but will it fit. or what will have to be moded. like i said earlier the car will not be a daily driver so if it's down for a couple of weeks it no big deal. any help with this would be great. thanks in advance

Default Re: too many choices

Welcome to the 'Jet.
A Swap is MUCH more involved than JUST the engine, so for MY money, I'd advise against it.
Have you browsed our SPI Forum?
There are many guys making surprising power with the SPI engines.
That May be cheaper and will Certainly be Easier.

Thumbs up Re: too many choices

thanks
i went and checked out the SPI forum. some good stuff there. i know swaping out a none stock engine is ALOT of work. '96 galant engine in to a '86 dodge colt. ran like a bat out of hell. amazing what 80 or so extra hp will do to a tranny and driveline with 300k miles on it. long story short 1st gear go boom. thanks again for the info. maybe the SPI isn't red-headed bastard child it seems to be.
