I should have my SVT (with the PWorks'charger) here in a few weeks. Since it has the PWorks charger installed, what would be the next logical upgrade? It was dynoed at 220hp at the rear wheel, and I cant imagine too much more that I could really do...
I was looking at a few carbon hoods, nothing outrageous, but something that would expel some heat while sitting in traffic. Most of the hoods are going for $500... So my question is: Is there a better way to invest the $500, then a carbon hood? ...BTW, the car is black and I'm planning on having the hood painted black as well, since I like the smooth look. So, I'm not trying to make the hood 'pop' out, by stating that "look I have a carbon hood!" Thanks! |

If you have done the power, I'd suggest making sure your car can handle the extra power i.e. either suspension or braking upgrades.

The focus would be dyno'd at the front wheels, not rear. I agree with making sure that the suspension and braking are up to par. Also, most CF hoods I have seen go really well with a black car, and you generally have to be up close to them to even see that it's CF.

Sorry about the 'rear' wheel...
![]() This is actually my first front wheel car... so I'm still stuck on rwhp! I'm not going to be racing or anything, I need a commuter car and this will be the main useage of the SVT. So, I'm not concernd with braking... However, I do want the engine to be a bit cooler in the wonderful Cali traffic. Plus, if I can shed 40lbs off the hood, then I dont have to worry about going on a diet

To shed heat you can cut away some of the weather striping between the hood and cowl. u can get a true CAI (unless u still have the stock airbox, in that case its fine). you can look into wrapping the header and cat. you can also find a oil cooler. There will be threads on all of that if u search. and Welcome! |

You say you're not going to be racing, BUT......
If this is your First FWD car, there are some techniques that you need to get under your belt for your own safety and enjoyment. The first upgrade I'd recommend is the nut behind the wheel. Look into a High Performance Driving Course such as an Auto-X school or maybe even enter a few local events just to get to learn the car closer to the limits in a SAFE environment. Fancy wheels, etc, are useless if they're bolted on to a wreck. I've had an incident myself when I first started driving FWD aggressively, and knowing what I know now, it would've been easy to save the car if I had more FWD skills at the time. Just my 2 cents.
