Was the Focus Sport Exhaust that was tested with the Stealth Option? or without? If without, how much power loss would it be with the stealth? I'm asking this because I currently have the magnaflow catback w/FS race header and it's just too loud.

There's no loss with the stealth muffler.

I feel bad that Ron did all these tests to show 2whp difference. People will gloat about that but say they dont want the 4whp from an UDP? Strange stuff this [FJ] sometimes.

Hmmmmm....
I think this would make a GREAT Shootout!!!!
Much Cheaper and Easier than an exhaust shootout....
The UDP War!!!!
Apex, FS, FC, and whoever else....
I'd LOVE to see the various offerings dyno'd on a stock Zetec.
Ron, are you Listening?

so, is it not that big of a deal that the FS exhaust isn't stainless? i always thought that was the best way to go. aslo, i'm a little confused after reading their description of it on their web page. do all of the exhausts come ceramic-coated, or is that just an option?

Confirms the known facts, cat*backs do NOT provide substantial gains, when installed alone. They are critical to a complete exhaust setup for optimal gains to be achieved from other enhancements.

On another note, I knew I bought Borla for a reason. It wasn't power, it was quality that drove me to Borla. The shootout results add a pinch of sugar to my overall sentiments on the Borla exhaut.

What it confirms is a comparison of exhaust systems without sound samples is *almost* useless.

Number one question: What does it sound like?

Ive heard most of the exhausts in the test. My personal favorites are the Borla, MBRP and FS systems. I really like a throaty sound and I love the wind-down gurgle noise the Zetec is fond of making.

People of all ages and motorsport experience tell me on a fairly regular basis that they really like the way my car sounds. My setup is FS 4-2-1->aerocharger->MBRP. Without the turbo in the middle this combo is literally painfully loud, your ears will bleed, you will scare people on the street when you downshift, people will hear you coming from over a mile away, the police will pull you over constantly. However with the turbo acting as a big muffler it turns into a really nice sound. Still pretty loud, but its a good kind of loud with all the pops, gurgles and roar/wail you want. Or to sum it up more concisely, every spring when I roll down my windows for the first time and hear the wonderful noise it puts the *biggest* grin on my face.

Did anyone notice how very similar MBRP and Vibrant are? The tip looks the same. The muffler looks the same. They are both two of the loudest throughout the whole test. The are both located in Ontario Canada. Both have a 5 year warranty. Both T304 Stainless steel and both probably have lower grades of steel in the flanges (even the MBRP says that it MAY have lower grade, my Vibrant did) I don't know. Fishy stuff.

Yeah, makes you wonder huh?

Not everyone tests their products and not everyone is honest about them. This test proves that.

Actually from the pics that WRCfan showed me, they did use the short resonator. The long resonator takes up the entire length of the straight section of the pipes.

Hmmmmm...maybe I'm wrong then. Because I've seen somebody selling his used MBRP with short and long resonator and the pics he showed me of the long resonator looked like two resonators welded together and it was almost the whole length of the straight pipe. I guess you're gonna have to verify that.

Hey, quick question on exhaust systems...im new when it comes to real car stuff, so my question may sound stupid. Will an entire exhaust system, lets say the mbrp, void the warranty? Wanna make sure ill still have my warranty before getting something like this. Thanks

Hi Guys,

Im looking for a good exhaust that flows pretty good and has a good quiet sound to it. I have the MBRP 2.5" svt exhaust on my zetec right now and the noise inside the car is to loud. I hate driving the car because if it!!!!! I would like to hear from you guys which is the best one. I was looking at the focus sport kit with the stealth muffler. Has anyone bought this kit and how do you like it??
Any help is great full.

actually an exhaust that wasn't in the shootout being the Tanabe exhaust is a very quiet system, flows nicely, and the fit and finish is top notch.

As mentioned by others, what do they sound like?

Well, how about this car for a baseline? My friend bought a 1999 Mustang V6 stick, and when he revs it, the engine sounds like it has 'balls'. It's deep and powerful. Not some high pitched buzzy 'hello i'm a civic'.

Which one of the shootout exhausts are manly, without being irritating like all those incredibly loud high pitched exhausts the ricers get for their civics?
