Wow a big thanks from me to you guys for the results. Awesome info. Vibrant did very good! Props to Focussport for awesome gains and quality. Shame on RM Racing for no gains and expensive pricing! All in all I think this is gonna open a can of worms for months to come.

no surprise to me.... FocusSport edges Borla on the quality... and has the .3 tq advantage, and a .2hp deficit... I'd suggest minor tuning of the engine could flip/flop those numbers around....
I've always known that those two systems are the best, and I'm proud to have a FocusSport system on my ride! Like I said in the other thread... my gains were more... but I had a couple bolt ons at that point. Big props to all that kicked in the systems... boo to those that didn't.... and well HKS... I know the issues that that brings, and I can't blame anyone there. |

Well to be fair to RM, they took a chance. The system they sent us was basically a prototype and they weren't even sure how it would do.
My last email from them sounds like they may not proceed with production. |

Ron.. you didn't list any of the piping diameters on there did you? I didn't see them.
Were there any exhausts that weren't 2.25"? (I think the HKS is actually smaller than 2.25) |

Not sure if a.5 hp and .5 ft lb of torque spread (with the top units)is a "can of worms" but it's good to see "the best" are within 1 hp of each other. For the most part, it (still) comes down to looks, sound and price.

Look at the low sound levels the HKS pipe makes, and it is right there with the ear buster Borla and the Focus Sport. All with a 2.165 diameter pipe. They also make a silencer that will make it 3db quieter (might lower h.p. and increase torque).I guess you know what I have.

The bottom line spreads:
2.7 horsepower... Borla win 2.2 foot pounds of torque...FocusSport win 10 db spread at idle... HKS 15 db at 3k ...HKS 13 db at 4k ...HKS 3 out of 5 ain't bad. I'm pleased to see HKS does as well while at the same time keeping decibel levels down for us "older" folks. ![]() Even with the SVT header (and no cat) it's not very loud. |

I've been trying to cut-down on my swearing as of late, but all I have to say is this:
I can't [censored] believe those [censored] at thermal wouldn't let you dyno they're exhaust! I mean what the [censored]?! we put a lot of [censored] time and effort into our cars, and TR&D is one of the big-name manufacturers for aftermarket components! the only reason I really bought the thermal was because I heard it had a very low sound and nice gains. I'm still satisfied with my choice, but I find it VERY stupid for them not to participate. edit: damn I was so mad when I read that that I forgot to thank all that were involved in this. I think I just may have to send the link to TR&D and let them know that while their product is impressive, they don't have a confident customer... and that their future profits may be at stake because of their lack of participation. |
