Default Painting a Header

I got the focus SVT header on my car and needless to say its a little rusty with all the salty winters And it does not look the best. I was looking at a pint that I could put on it. I know the Dupli-Color stuff is not the best. So I was looking at 2 other places. The POR15 stuff or the YearOne stuff.

Por-15

Year One

The Black is what I would like. I am guessing that since alot of this stuff is used for Small Blocks and Big Blocks the temp ratings are fine and even if I Supercharge ny car, my exhaust Header is never going to get upto or over 1200 degrees. Is that a right assumption? Or should I got with the Alum finish that has a 1400 Degree rating?

Thanks for any help

Chris

Also, Does the SVT header fit in a standard oven at all?

it is my understanding that it is going to peel no matter what. paint just wont do the job. the heat cycling kills it. you would be best to send it to get ceramic coated. then it will be better looking and better performing

paint will come right off, you would have a lot better luck gettting it jet hot coated or something similar.

Your best bet is to find someone locally who does the coatings. They will probably to the inside and outside. I got a quote to get an FC header done for like 150, just never did it. L8er Jon

We painted a few headers with the 1200 degree royal blue paint from autozone. Put it on nice and thick, then cook it in the oven at like 400 degrees for 3 hours, something like that. It lasts, we had it on the turbo car for a year, they glowed orange in the dark but the blue stayed on. You just gotta make sure they're absolutely clean when u paint em. We painted the shorty headers on the v8 car too, we didn't get em as clean but they still look pretty good. just a couple bubble spots.
