Default Pretty Much the funniest thing I've seen from my car... Catalytic Probs

My car was making this wierd rattling noise coming off throttle and at idle. sounded really bad, like a heat shield or maybe even something internally wrong.

2 opinions from other jetters was that the cat might be falling apart inside, so we set to take it off and have a look.

This is what we found:

That's right, a little tiny nugget of the cat material left. Just a nearly perfect round ball rattling around in there.

I cracked it in half and it fell out. Easiest cat gutting I've ever seen.

Pretty much. I've got over 100,000 miles so it's somewhere. The magnaflow doesn't have baffle plates either so it just flew out the tip, probably little pieces at a time.

Also, for the tree huggers, I blocked off my EGR too. The chip disables it anyways.

I think the stock cats are only good for around 100k.... Mine was still intact at 104k, but there were cracks on the inner wall.

Luckily I had a 3k mile one that I bought for $30... Finally had a chance to use it!

Mine has a young 70k on it. After looking inside, I noticed some sort of piece that looked like it was out of place. I should take a picture.

I had a shop do the install on my shorty header. When they pulled the OEM header, they looked into the cat and there it was...all of that busted catalyst material. Pretty nasty. Prompted me to replace with the RT cat. But it was pretty funny, since the cat had about 35000 on it at the time.

Just bought one off here, same thing @ 70k on the SE. They don't build 'em like they used to?
