rough idle then dies - Focaljet

We have a 2000 SE wagon with roughly 82k on it. At cold idle everything is fine, when it gets to operating temp the idle goes to hell. After about 10min of rough idle the car will just die. It has a hesitation when you give it gas too, and this is only after the idle goes to hell too.

Anyone know what could be causing this??

Also no Codes have been thrown, CEL works, but does not come on at all.

not sure yet, don't think alt was it, maybe IAC. Took it to FORD for diag.

i think i had the same problem w/ my 01 sedan. does it run rough when you take a turn too sharp? if so take it to ford and have them pull a recall list on your vin #. there were certain foci's that had fuel pump recalls that made all kind of crazy **** go wrong. lets just say i didnt realize that till after i had made 3 trips...they told me there was no recall available...and i paid $600 for some guy to fix it...oh yeah...ford cut me a good check after that one!

Got it back from FORD, and no conclusion. They say it never acted up on them. When I picked it up of course it started doing it again. They kept for a while longer and said it still did'nt do anything for them. Arg.... Still no CEL and no recalls for this vehicle. Looks like it's going back to auction

dude. replace the IAC. its like 107 at advanced auto parts. i plan to. just havent had time.

Going to have my mechanic replace the IAC tomorrow, hope that does the trick. If not it's doomed.

Check you EGR hoses to see if they are collapsed and/or cracked. Our Taurus just had that issue and I've heard of the same problem on Focuses.

Check the middle (largest) hose that runs into the manifold at the back of the motor. The elbow right before it hits the mani has a tendancy to get weak and collapse there under vacuum. New hose style is like 20 bucks from ford.

mine did that 2 and i replaced the intake and started to idle alil better and then i got a tune up and now it does not do it at all.
