Can't measure tappet clearance... help!

I've got about 32 tappets from blown motors. They always come in handy.

yeah, you will see 11.445 (just an example i have here) that travels around the bucket, its on the flat part, not on the stem.

it looks something like this when you look into it

Wow they are REALLY hard to see. LOL

yeah, its really best to see them in daylight, for some reason the sun is the best to view them. i have tired lights but the sun does it best.

And then when you measure them with a dial indicator, they arent even close to the number printed on them.

I switched to measuring them when I did the math based on the stamp and still had to pull the cams and readjust.

i use a 2" mic with the 1" standard or a set of digital vernier calipers with a 1" standard then write on each with a paint pen for quick reference!

I have the part numbers for all the SVT tappet sizes.

I meant used as in a box o buckets. I wasn't sure if you wanted to buy new or not.

hey whats the smallest micrometer you can use to measure the buckets? (basically, how tall are the skirts?) I need to buy one.

The SVT tappet skirts are exactly 1" tall, so I imagine a 2" micrometer should do the trick.
