Thumbs up HTPerformace Billet Thermostat Housing

I installed a billet aluminum thermostat housing on my 2000 Kona Focus last week that I purchased from HTPerformance. I wanted to share my findings as I have not seen anything on the forums about them after an install. First off, this thing is awesome! I have been driving around with it installed for about a week now and it is functioning flawlessly while looking amazing. I was able to use the stock thermostat and thermostat gasket out of my original housing which is great because if I ever need to replace the thermostat, factory parts will work. The complete install took about 2-3 hours which included removing the battery and battery tray, draining the radiator and coolant reservoir, re-installing the battery and refilling the coolant system. I am very excited to have a product like this on my car. I will never have another plastic factory thermostat housing fracture and leak (this has happened to me once). I have heard of other people replacing the housings 2-3 times due to the same problem. Over time the factory plastic unit cracks and leaks. With the amount of time and money you could spend going through faulty factory housings, you could buy one HTP housing that will last forever and looks SWEET! I don’t know about everyone else but when I repair something like that I want to do it once and have it last. I didn’t know what to expect when I installed the housing but I am very pleased with what I received. It works perfectly so far and looks great with the anodized pieces. It has now become a popular conversation piece when I go to autocross, meets, and car shows. I tried to get some pictures after the install but it is a very busy little area as you can see below. I look forward to more high quality components from HTPerformance.

RNAP was able to do some final long term testing for us with a non-production kit. Production kits include aluminum top plugs and an angled rear fitting. Turned out the a straight fitting worked in the rear of the housing with no interference. We received the angled fitting today so shipping final kits out next week is certain.

Thank you Ken for taking the time to do all the final testing of our product. We are very proud of the results and judging from your comments, you like it a little more than the factory unit

For a quicker install, you might not have to remove the battery. I didn't when I replaced mine.

That looks great in there! Too bad it doesn't make the car go faster too, lol. When it comes time for me to replace that part, I'm definitely getting one. Nice job HTP!

You won't be disappointed. I got a chance to see these 99% complete minus the last fitting and they look awesome. Great fit and finish.

I believe so.

Update: I just ran an autocross event with it yesterday and still no leaks. It performed great. Temperature stayed where it normally would with the stock set up. Great job guys!

I almost cried when I saw this.... only weeks after I had to replace my stock unit when it cracked and bled all over the ground... now I'll have to wait until this one gives up the ghost....

That looks flipping sweet, however. Completely worth every penny too.

It's a beautiful piece. Just would stand out more with the logo on top. When I build up my svt block I'm going to have to pick one up!!!

What blemishes are we talking about? Just like slight nicks and scraps? I am thinking of getting one of the blemished ones if its just the nicks and scraps issue.

Just out of curiosity, what sensor fits for an SVT?

Being the SVT uses a push in and this housing is a thread in, I'd imagine that question should be asked.

These are just minor indents caused from shipment, but do not pass our QC for the product line. They are fully functional.
