Richard Holdener dyno'd a JBA shorty w/ stock cat and found 3-5 ft-lbs of torque on the low end. Nothing at the high end, though.

In this picture, what is the piping from cylinder #2's pipe, and the bung on cylinder #1's pipe? EGR?

I think the pipe from cylinder 2 is for EGR, and the bung on #1 is for the first O2 sensor.

mine was an obx 4-2-1 and i liked it... i would offer to sell it but ive since cut it up and used the primary tubes to make my wastegate dump pipe... and will be using the flange for building an equal length tubular manifold down the road....

anyways... hope that helps

OBX 4-2-1 on ebay all the way. Mine has been going on 5-6 years on the car now. Of course the finish dulled, but it hasn't cracked, it fit perfect, and its stainless, hasn't rusted.

Go for a 4-2-1 rather than a 4-1. The 4-2-1 design is much better for exhaust flow with the Zetec.

I know people knock shorties because of power, but your not going to break land speed records with a long tube either. Better gains with long tube for sure.

I have had the Ford Racing Shorty and Random Tech high flow cat for years, and I love it because it does have gains, it does change the powerband, sounds great combined with Borla cat-caback, and I do not have to worry about it scraping with coilovers as I would with a race header.

If ultimate power is not your main concern, the FR shorty - Random Tech is a nice combo. I love my set up and will dyno both the SVT header and FR shorty on my PWSC car next year. If the numbers are close I will stick go with the shorty combo so I can roll slammed.

Please do. I know I'd be interested in seeing the difference. You don't have your stock manifold and cat, do you? Because that'd be a great test too.

....of course, testing them against the SVT header, you're putting 'em up against easily the best header option out there, so....

If you're worried about temperatures, you could also always wrap it?

I've heard of the fan problem before I installed mine. I used it for two years with no problems at all. Even my power steering line was fine. For whatever reason, it works for some and not others. I had it with an HKS flexback and loved the sound. The big problem I had was getting the EGR tube lined up to the header. I had to bend it a bit and start the threads before I bolted it up. I switched back recently for my bi-yearly inspection. I will not reinstall it because the header bolts didn't feel quite right going back in. Maybe a little cross thread happened, so I'll leave well enough alone. Too bad yours didn't work out for you.

I have this exact same header, installed about a year ago and has been problematic ever since. Installing the EGR to this header requires some delicate monkey bending because it doesnt align correctly. I'm selling mine once the 02 sensors come in.

Why not just plug the EGR system and tune it out?

I meant where the EGR gas tube screws into the adapter on the header. I dont have the resources for a tuning, besides, its all coming off anyway.

That's what I meant, too. Just cut the EGR tube in half, throw it away, and plug the cat with an M22 metric drain plug.

I wouldnt worry about it, the EGR is a PITA to work with in the position it is now. Not going to deal with it until later.
