Default Comp Stage III's Just Installed

The Install took me about 4 hours start to finish. I had 16 extra buckets to swap around and still had to machine 2 of them to get the correct clearances. The install would have been less than 2 hours if no bucket swapping was needed. I installed my CFM cam gearsm and Blue gates belt aswell. Comp suggests .006" clearance I got all of mine between .006" and .009". The current valve train noise is less than before.

The car drives extremely well and I wish Comp had a more aggressive drop in cam available. I have a ported head going on as soon as I am done porting it. But so far with the stock head, gains have been impressive. But a bigger TB, intake manifold, and the worked higher compression head will definitely yield over 200 crank hp when all is done.

The biggest improvement is from the roll, 2nd gear @ 30mph is very pleasing. So this week I will be dialing in my tune to get everything I can out of my current set up.

My advice to anyone debating which stage comp cam to go with, just go with the stage III's. There is absolutely no reason to go with the first two stages for an N/A build unless you have an auto.

Its funny being at a stoplight and people look over like is that the focus making that sound. I absolutely love it. The first chance I get I will take a cold start video so you guys can drool.

I'm not even sure how big my cams are, but I can tell you it isn't big enough with certainty.

Sounds like a good ride. Don't forget to get a larger MAF housing to go with the new TB and all the rest, otherwise you'll be crippling your flow. More tuning, but worth it.

Nice! CJ and myself installed Comp II's in my car earlier this year. I did not know that III's would have worked with stock valve train at the time, or I would have considered getting them. I just wanted a grumpy focus, I have the powerworks for my power fix. I too get looked at sometimes. What header and exhaust system do you have?

How much work did you have to do with adjusting the buckets etc?

I had Comp Stage II's in my focus. No problems at all, didn't have any clearance issues at all. Cam's start pulling at about 3,400 and pull strong up to 7,000 and then the level off to the 7,400 redline. I didn't know you could use the stage III's with the stock valvetrain either. I would have went with them. I don't get a lope at all, . I just put a 266(270) cam in my VW Golf and wow.. Idle is just ridiculous. I'll have to take a cold start video and post that if anyone is interested.

I miss my Foci.. ::tear:: I still get treated the same here even though I don't own a Focus anymore. I love it!!

CJ has a box full of buckets. We had to change about half of them, the other half were within Comps specs.

Here is the video prior to the cam install.

Here is the video after the cam install. I need to get another person to help me because putting on the ground doesn't carry the sound very well and there was a car right behind me.

Cold Start:

Warm start and run:
