Maybe so, but Eric makes A LOT of practical sense, especially as applied to a dedicated track car. Given the cost for each event, the need for reliability is huge.

Now I just need to pick up a cheap Focus street car, install my PWSC and THEN do the compund boost project.

At one point in time we made Zetec Main Cap Straps, which is the next best thing to billet main caps since it eliminates the need to line hone the crank bore. The main issue with them is that the tolerances on the straps and machining of the OEM caps have to be held within 0.0005" which makes small batches and custom machining of each cap set time consuming and tedious.

I remember when you guys first did those. Seemed like a great idea, but again the question has to be asked... How many Main Cap failures have been documented out there? I know about most of the CLAIMED broken caps, but there has never once been an proof provided to validate any of those.

In my opinion, properly torqued ARP main studs are more than enough for 99% of the builds that will take place on these forums.

You hit it on the nail. I doubt they are necessary for MOST applications. But then again, it is a good insurance policy so you don't go dropping cranks.
