    Default Zetec Throttle Bodies

Just read my Classic Ford from back to cover and found that Chester Sports Cars are selling a new ITB kit for 750 pound. Sounds like a steal to me. . .

    The kit comes with;
    Inlet manifold
Set of 4 ZX6R bike carbs
Set of 4 long and short air horns
    Lined hoses
    Coil Pack
    Various other necessities
    Manual choke bar
ECU w/ DIY tuning software and cable, comes pretuned

It's 750 pound for the standard 1.6,1.8,2.0 Zetec
It's 760 pound for the Duratec ST, SVT Zetec

Hmmmmm, this or the FSWERKS turbo kit?

Turbo kit. This might be a decent idea, but dollar for dollar (or pound for pound), the turbo is a much better bet.

I think it would be cool, not sure if the performance gains would be worthwhile, but yeah, it would be neat to see. I would rather hear the whine of a turbo, myself, but to each his own, I guess, huh?

I'm also trying to find something to do to my SVT to make it Carlisle worthy without spending a ton of money

Ah. Well, that would be a neat project then. I would like to see actual dyno charts that prove any performance gains, not just numbers that make claims. But I would also like to see an ITB equipped SVT, that would be pretty cool.

Yea on their website it says they got the ST170 to go from 170 to 205, but I don't see any dyno charts

    I call bull****! I know of a much better equipped TB'd ST170 that doesn't break 200 bhp.

Saying that it's not a bad kit for the price, it's a shame they've been unrealistically optimistic about their figures.

Yea, I guess, but they are a well trusted manufacturer among Classic Ford, so I can;t believe they would make up figures, unless that Focus had an incredible tune and some serious internals

The fact that there are no dyno charts says it all. I'm sure they're a well respected company but the figures don't tally at all with the dyno proven figures I've seen for other throttle body conversions.

They also quote every figure to the nearest five bhp which says alot too. There is some optomistic guesstimation going on there.

It looks like a good value conversion though, I could be convinced to buy if they showed some dyno charts.

Could be worthwhile on a fully built engine that revs sky high. I think ITBs really only give you power benefits at higher RPMs because the intake manifold will outlfow the engine until (and I'm totally guessing here) about 5k rpm. Other than that its going to give you better throttle response. But you can get that with just a larger TB anyways....

At the current exchange rate, that costs 1169.00 american dollars. For trick ITB's, okay...but your still gonna have less power than the FSWERKS kit.

A really aggressive, streetable (just barely) Zetec builtd can produce 200ish crank horsepower. But that would cost 15-20k prob.

If you're in it for the sound as well as performance, then build/balance/lighten your rotating assembly and tune, so you can push it up around 9K... you'll love the screaming wail, and everyone in the vacinity will turn (including anyone with a 400+BHP turbo build) to see what's making that amazing, classic track sound on the street.

And I don't think 200BHP from an SVT is unrealistic with the right tuning/cams. I think fitment in the bay is the only sticky point.

I can imagine that those intakes would trumpet nicely at high RPMs. I would love to hear it, and if you do do it (I said do do), do a writeup on it, with LOTS of pics.

Yea definitely, I'm going to the UK in December, going to maybe check these guys out, and Torque of the Devil, just looking around.

Hopefully by then the FSWERKS kit will be out, or a price will be announced so I know what I want to get and what is realistic.
